To investigate the effect of carbon black and titanium interlayers between Zinc Oxide (ZnO) photo electrode and Fluorine-Doped Tin Oxide (FTO) on the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells (DSSCs).

The carbon black interlayer significantly improves the PCE of DSSCs by reducing interface impedance and increasing electron diffusion length. The titanium interlayer also enhances PCE but is less effective due to the formation of a TiO2 layer that increases impedance.

The study is limited to the use of carbon black and titanium as interlayers and their effects on the PCE of DSSCs. The research does not explore other potential interlayer materials or combinations thereof.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
Carbon black and titanium interlayers were deposited on FTO anode layers using radio frequency magnetron sputtering. ZnO photo anode layers were prepared using plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD).

FTO glass was used as the substrate. The thickness of the interlayers and ZnO layer was controlled.
