Phosphorescent mesoporous molecular imprinting microspheres were successfully prepared and used to detect trace levels of 4-NP in natural water bodies and soils. The MIPs avoided interference of fluorescence or scattering light from different complex environmental substrates, and can more specifically and precisely detect 4-NP.
