The study demonstrates a wavelength and spectral width tunable all-fiber mode-locked Erbium-doped fiber laser based on PM fiber and 45°-TFG, achieving a wide tuning range of 36 nm with a short cavity length of 8.28 m. The flexible output wavelength and spectral width tunable fiber laser can be applied in fundamental research and commercial applications.

The study is limited by the thermal damage threshold of CNT polymer composite SA, avoiding multiple pulsing and SA damage. The output power and pulse energy variation are relatively low, and the study does not explore pulse properties with increased pump power.
The methodology involves using a SWCNTs-PVA composite film as a saturable absorber for mode-locking and a fiber birefringence filter consisting of a PM fiber and a Brewster fiber grating for tunable operation. The experimental setup includes a highly doped Erbium fiber as the gain medium, pumped by a 980 nm laser module, with a 45°-TFG inserted between two polarization controllers (PCs) to enhance intracavity birefringent effect. The output is monitored using an optical spectrum analyzer, a high-speed oscilloscope, a radio frequency analyzer, and an autocorrelator.
