研究目的
To design and evaluate two kinds of feed horn antennas for use in a frequency range equivalent to ALMA Band 6 (211-275 GHz), which can be fabricated in a much simpler way with conventional machining tools, and to compare their performance with traditional corrugated horns.
研究成果
The designed smooth-walled spline-profile horns, particularly the diagonal horn, demonstrate excellent performance with cross-polar levels below ?20 dB and gaussicity above 96%, making them a feasible alternative to traditional corrugated horns for astronomical applications. The diagonal horn's ease of fabrication and integration, along with its high performance, positions it as a strong candidate for future millimeter and submillimeter receivers.
研究不足
The study is focused on a specific frequency range (ALMA Band 6, 211-275 GHz) and the comparison is primarily with corrugated horns. The construction of the diagonal horn was prioritized due to its better adaptation to design specifications, leaving the conical horn's potential unexplored in practical application.
