研究目的
To compare the anterior and posterior segment complications of diode (810 nm) laser photocoagulation (LPC) and Nd:YAG (532 nm green) LPC in the treatment of retinopathy of prematurity (ROP).
研究成果
Cataract may develop when Nd:YAG laser is used; however, posterior segment complications such as fibrotic proliferation and tractional retinal detachment may be more likely to appear with the use of diode laser.
研究不足
The limitations of our study are its retrospective nature and the small number of patients and short follow-up time.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
The study was a retrospective analysis comparing the complications of diode laser photocoagulation (DLPC) and Nd:YAG laser photocoagulation (LPC) in treating ROP.
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources:
The study included 84 eyes of 43 patients treated with DLPC and 58 eyes of 31 patients treated with Nd:YAG LPC. Patients who had received anti-VEGF treatment before or after the LPC procedure, those who discontinued follow-up before regression of the disorder was confirmed, and those who had undergone the first laser treatment at another center were excluded.
3:List of Experimental Equipment and Materials:
Diode laser (Iridex: Oculight SL, 810 nm diode or infrared laser, USA) and Nd:YAG laser (Iridex: Oculight GL, 532 nm green or frequency-doubled solid state laser diod-pumped laser, USA) were used.
4:Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
Laser therapy was performed under general anesthesia. The confluent laser burns were applied to the entire avascular retina from the ridge to the ora serrata for 360 through the transpupillary route.
5:Data Analysis Methods:
Statistical analyses were performed with SPSS for Windows version 21.0 program. Continuous data are reported as mean ± standard deviation (SD). Categorical data are reported as count (n) and percent (%). Pearson’s chi-square tests were used for comparisons of categorical variables among the studied groups. Student’s t test was used to compare means of independent samples.
