研究目的
To give an overview of the energy sector and the current status of photovoltaic (PV) systems in Suriname and to investigate which role PV systems can play in this country’s future energy transition.
研究成果
PV systems can play a significant role in Suriname's energy transition, given the country's abundant solar irradiance and successful past implementations of PV systems. To meet the 2027 renewable energy target of 47%, an additional 110 MWp of installed PV capacity is required. Planned PV projects could contribute significantly to meeting future electricity demand, but additional projects or other renewable energy sources may be necessary to fully meet the demand. The study highlights the potential for PV and hydro to significantly reduce the share of fossil fuels in Suriname's energy mix.
研究不足
The study is limited by the availability of up-to-date and exact data on power capacities and electricity generation. The assumption that all planned PV and hydro projects will be executed may not hold true in reality, affecting the accuracy of future projections. Additionally, power quality issues related to large-scale PV and hydro integration into the existing grid were not considered.
