研究目的
To investigate the impact of 26 pre- and intraoperative factors on reusable flexible ureteroscope (fURS) damage.
研究成果
The stone burden is not primarily responsible for fURS damage. Application of laser fibres through the flexible scope itself, as well as already well-known steep IPA, can be considered as risk factors for the damage of fURS not only during kidney stone therapy, but also during diagnostic procedures. Particular intraoperative attention is advised to avoid future repairs of reusable fURS.
研究不足
The retrospective character is the main drawback of our study. The history of each reusable device was not tracked; therefore, we were unable to determine whether the number of previous procedures or the type of flexible ureteroscope had impact on the risk of damage.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
Retrospective analysis of 416 flexible ureteroscopies performed between September 2013 and June
2:Statistical analysis was performed in RStudio (136) with Chi-square test and Mann–Whitney U tests (MWU). Sample Selection and Data Sources:
20 All procedures were conducted with reusable fURS: Karl Storz Flex-X2 or Olympus URF-V.
3:List of Experimental Equipment and Materials:
Reusable flexible ureteroscopes (Karl Storz Flex-X2, Olympus URF-V), reusable SlimLine? 200-μm fibre (Boston Scientific), Holmium Laser (Lumenis VersaPulse? PowerSuite? 100 W), Stonizer? tipless (
4:9 F, Uromed) or NGage? (2 F, Cook Medical) nitinol baskets, Olympus FB 56D-1 (2 mm) or Karl Storz (0 F) biopsy forceps. Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
All patients were operated under general anaesthesia in a supine lithotomy position. Flexible ureteroscopy was usually preceded by semirigid ureteroscopy (URS).
5:Data Analysis Methods:
Statistical testing was conducted by RStudio (Version 1.0.136) software. Mean value with standard deviation (SD) for normally distributed variables, median value with minimum and maximum values for variables without normal distribution, as well as percent values for categorical variables, were used for descriptive statistics.
