研究目的
To increase the performance/cost ratio of DSSCs by using several wild regional plants of Persian Gulf zone for natural pigment production.
研究成果
The microwave-assisted Malva verticillata-DSSC had the highest energy conversion efficiency of 1.702% and a comparable open circuit voltage to that of the reference DSSC containing standard dye N719. This superior performance is attributed to the highest concentration and optical activity of pigments extracted from Malva verticillata. The study suggests that Malva verticillata is an excellent candidate for pigment production on a large scale for commercialized DSSCs due to its low cost, environmental compatibility, and low toxicity.
研究不足
The study focused on wild regional plants of the Persian Gulf zone, which may limit the generalizability of the findings to other regions or plant types. The efficiency and stability of natural dyes in DSSCs are still less than those of synthetic dyes.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
Response surface methodology (RSM) and Box-Behnken design were used to optimize pigment extraction conditions. Four factors (extraction time, process temperature, ethanol/water solvent ratio, and solution pH) were examined at three different levels.
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources:
Fresh plants were washed, oven-dried at 42?C, and powdered. 1 gr of each sample was dissolved in 20 ml of the solvent.
3:List of Experimental Equipment and Materials:
Incubator shaker apparatus (FTSKT-801L, Korea), microwave apparatus (Anton Paar, Multiwave 3000), UV-Vis spectrophotometer (UviLine9600, SECOMAN), dynamic light scattering (CiLas, nano DS), zeta potential (Zeta compact, CAD), circular dichroism (Aviv-215), cyclic voltammetry (CV, ZAHNER, Zennium).
4:Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
Pigment extraction was conducted using ordinary solvent extraction and microwave-assisted extraction methods. Extracts were separated using centrifugation at 2500 rpm for 5 min. Pigment concentration was measured using UV-Vis spectrophotometer.
5:Data Analysis Methods:
The effectiveness of each extraction process was evaluated based on the extracted pigment concentration measured using the UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The quadratic regression model was used for data analysis.
