研究目的
To develop a finite element analysis technique to characterize the distributions of temperature and stress in the process of multilayer deposition of metallic powders by laser additive manufacturing (LAM).
研究成果
The developed CAE technique using FEM effectively predicts the variation of temperature and thermal stress in moving laser irradiation process. Residual normal stress in the laser moving direction is significantly larger than that in other directions due to a steep temperature gradient. The residual stress in the build increases with increasing number of deposited layers, and highly stressed regions are present in the build and at the top region of the base nearby the interface.
研究不足
The diffusion mechanism in the molten pool is not considered in the simulation. The study focuses on a two-layer build, and the residual stress increases with the number of deposited layers, which may not fully represent the complexity of multilayer LAM processes.
