The proposed inline microstrip to waveguide transition for wide Ka-band millimeter-wave applications demonstrates low insertion loss and good return loss over a wideband from 28 to 38 GHz. It is suitable for high performance transition with low profile, miniaturized size, and easy fabrication.

The slight difference between simulated and measured results is attributed to fabrication tolerance and inaccuracy of assembly. The length, width, and height of the cavity are the parameters that have the greatest influence on the results.
