To compare the performance in terms of accuracy and convergence of numerical modal methods as applied to photonic and plasmonic structures.

The Polynomial Modal Method (PMM) and the Pseudo-Spectral Modal Method (PSMM) are identified as the best candidates for an extension of the modal method to 2D structures, based on their convergence and accuracy in the studied cases.
研究不足
The study is limited to 1D structures due to the availability of analytical results for convergence comparisons in some cases. The extension of the modal method to 2D structures is suggested but not explored in depth.
