The harmonic dissipative soliton mode-locked 1.93 μm TDFL based on multilayer WS2 nanosheets using a compact linear cavity in anomalous dispersion regime was demonstrated. The harmonic mode-locking operation with the 56.3 MHz repetition rate can generate the pulse energy of up to 3 nJ. The few-layer WS2 is highly promising for serving as the saturable absorber for high frequency and high energy mode-locked fiber laser at the 2 μm wavelength range.

The environmental stability is a problem at this stage and the mode-locked pulses can be stable for less than 15 minutes contingent upon the concentration and thickness of WS2 as well as the total cavity dispersion.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
The study utilized a linear Tm3+ fiber laser cavity incorporating a WS2 saturable absorber (SA) for mode-locking. The WS2 SA was fabricated by dropping WS2 solution onto a gold mirror.
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources:
Multilayer WS2 nanosheets were prepared by liquid phase exfoliation method.

A gold mirror, WS2 nanosheets, Tm3+-doped fiber, single-moded WDM coupler, SMF-28 fiber, and a CW erbium/ytterbium-codoped fiber laser were used.
4:Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
The laser pulses were monitored using a high-speed InGaAs detector, a sampling rate oscilloscope, and a radio frequency analyzer. The spectral responses were measured by a mid-infrared spectral analyzer.
5:Data Analysis Methods:
The nonlinear optical parameters were obtained by fitting the measured data with a saturable absorption model.
