研究目的
To explore the ability of second window indocyanine green (SWIG) to detect neoplastic tissue and to predict postoperative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings intraoperatively in patients with high-grade gliomas (HGG).
研究成果
Intraoperative imaging with SWIG demonstrates highly sensitive detection of HGG tissue in real time and correlates with postoperative MRI. SWIG can provide surgeons with MRI-like results in real time, potentially increasing resection rates.
研究不足
1. The excitation laser could not reach deep tissue to excite the ICG in one case.
2. ICG can accumulate in non-neoplastic areas of blood–brain barrier breakdown, lowering the specificity.
3. The SWIG protocol requires patients to visit the outpatient suite the day prior to surgery, which may be cumbersome.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
Retrospective data collection from 36 patients with primary HGG who received systemic ICG infusions at 2.5–5 mg/kg 24 h preoperatively. Near-infrared fluorescence was recorded throughout the case and from biopsy specimens.

Sample Selection and Data Sources:
2. Sample Selection and Data Sources: Patients with pathology-proven, newly diagnosed HGG were included. Exclusion criteria were pregnancy and allergy to contrast dye, iodide, or shellfish.
3:List of Experimental Equipment and Materials:
FDA-approved VisionSense Iridium TM exoscope with a NIR laser excitation source (805 nm) and camera (820–860 nm), ICG (C43H47N2O6S2.Na; Akorn Pharmaceuticals, Illinois, USA).

Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
4. Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow: Standard-of-care resections were performed. NIR signal was documented at various stages of the surgery, and biopsy specimens were taken for histopathology.
5:Data Analysis Methods:
Videos of the tumor resection were analyzed postoperatively by three independent reviewers. The presence or absence of NIR signal, as well as the signal-to-background-ratio (SBR), was analyzed using ImageJ.
