研究目的
To demonstrate the first high-speed directly-modulated cylindrical vector (CV) beam laser under electrical pumping based on a fully integrated III?V semiconductor platform.
研究成果
The demonstrated high-speed directly-modulated CV beam laser shows superior performance with a stable single-mode lasing, ~50 dB SMSR, and modulation speed up to 20 Gbit/s. The km-scale data-carrying direct fiber eigenmode transmission link seeded by the laser demonstrates its potential applications in spatial mode enabled optical communications. Future improvements could include higher-speed direct modulation and higher emission efficiency by further optimization of the laser structure.
研究不足
The intensity distribution of the radiated emission is not a single ring but a concentric annular pattern with a dark center, which could be ascribed to the diffraction of the near field scattered by the small grating on top of the microring cavity. This unwanted intensity distribution in radial can be suppressed by spatial filtering when coupled into the fiber.
