研究目的
Reviewing Bragg gratings based on SOI that are electrically programmable and discussing their use for advanced programmable optical and microwave signal processing.
研究成果
Silicon photonics provides an excellent platform for the implementation of waveguide Bragg gratings due to the mature CMOS technology with high yield and low cost. The ability to integrate waveguide gratings with other photonic devices on a single chip and the potential for full system-level integration are highlighted. The paper concludes with the promising prospect of realizing full system-level integration with the improvement of high-speed and high-efficient silicon modulators and on-chip Germanium photodetectors.
研究不足
The main limitation is the poor spectral accuracy due to the poor fabrication tolerance in implementing phase-shifted Bragg gratings on silicon. High precision lithography is required for precise spectral responses but is not currently available.
