研究目的
To address the limitations of block matching methods for dense reconstruction with widely angled stereoscopic cameras by proposing a new method that uses an initial transform between the images from two cameras to make the views similar and then matches the points between the two images using an accurate subpixel image registration algorithm.
研究成果
The method presented addresses some of the limitations of using block matching methods for dense reconstruction with widely angled stereoscopic cameras. The high accuracy of this method makes it suitable for measurement purposes, with a maximum measurement error of 0.05 mm and a standard deviation of 0.09 mm for a 12 mm length measurement.
研究不足
The method is currently best suited for flat objects, as perspective transforms map one plane to another. Performance may decrease substantially for highly curved objects.
