Photodoping significantly enhances the infrared absorption of Ga doped ZnO nanocrystals by promoting electron compensation as the dominant mechanism. This effect is stable in open air for months, indicating potential applications in smart windows, sensors, and photovoltaic devices.

The study is limited to Ga doped ZnO nanocrystals and ITO nanoparticles. The long-term stability of photodoping in other materials and under different environmental conditions was not investigated.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
Solvothermal synthesis method was used to synthesize Ga doped ZnO nanocrystals. The effect of photodoping was studied by UV irradiation of nanocrystal dispersions in a hole scavenging medium (n-butanol).
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources:
Ga doped ZnO nanocrystals with various Ga doping levels were synthesized. Commercial Sn doped In2O3 (ITO) nanoparticles were also used for comparison.

4:Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
2 Ga doped ZnO nanoparticles were synthesized, characterized, and then subjected to UV irradiation in n-butanol. The optical properties were measured before and after irradiation.
5:Data Analysis Methods:
XRD patterns were analyzed using Rietveld refinement with Profex software. XPS data were analyzed using CasaXPS software. Optical data were analyzed for bandgap and plasmonic absorption.
