研究目的
To study the degree of ionization and plasma shielding in plumes induced by multiple short laser pulses for the laser spot diameters varying from 20 μm to 500 μm under conditions when the plumes induced by individual pulses strongly interact with each other.
研究成果
The simulations demonstrate that the degree of ionization and plasma shielding during multi-pulse laser ablation strongly depends on the laser spot size. Smaller spot sizes can mitigate plasma shielding effects by preventing plasma ignition during subsequent pulses due to rapid plume expansion and cooling.
研究不足
The study is limited to numerical simulations and does not include experimental validation. The computational model assumes equilibrium degrees of ionization, which may overestimate the rate of plasma decay between pulses.
