研究目的
The aim of this study was to compare the accuracy and reliability of measurements performed using two different software programs on digital models generated using two types of plaster model scanners (a laser scanner and a computed tomography [CT] scanner).
研究成果
Digital models generated from plaster casts by using laser and CT scanning and measured using two different software programs are accurate, and the measurements are reliable. Therefore, both fabrication methods and software could be used interchangeably.
研究不足
The study did not find statistically significant differences between the plaster and digital model measurements, but some discrepancies were clinically relevant. The subjectivity of the measurement method and the interpretation of reference points could have contributed to inaccuracies.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
The study involved scanning 30 plaster models with a 3Shape laser scanner and a Flash CT scanner. Measurements were performed on plaster models using digital calipers and on digital models using Ortho Analyzer (3Shape) and Digimodel? (OrthoProof) software programs.
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources:
Dental models of 30 students at the Orthodontic Department of Universidade Federal Fluminense were used. Inclusion criteria included fully erupted permanent dentition including all upper and lower first permanent molars.
3:List of Experimental Equipment and Materials:
Equipment used included a 3Shape R700? laser scanner and a Flash CT scanner (model FCT-1600; Hytec Inc.). Materials included alginate impressions (Hydrogum?, Zhermack) and type IV plaster (Vigodent?).
4:Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
Each set of plaster models was scanned using both scanners. Measurements were performed by two examiners on plaster and digital models.
5:Data Analysis Methods:
Statistical analyses were performed using IBM SPSS Statistics for Windows, version 20.0. The comparison of measurements was evaluated using ANOVA with Bonferroni correction. The intraclass coefficient correlation (ICC) for consistency was calculated.
