Increasing sensitivity and tuning resonance wavelength to longer wavelength can be achieved simultaneously by adding oxide on the original Au film. For the same oxide, the resonance wavelength and sensitivity both increase with the increasing of oxide thickness. For different oxides with same thickness, sensor coated with Au-TiO2 (with highest refractive index among the studied oxides) shows the highest sensitivity.

The study is theoretical and lacks experimental validation. The practical implementation and real-world performance of the sensor are not discussed.
