研究目的
To summarize the recent works of narrow-linewidth and/or single-frequency solid-state Raman lasers, discussing the mechanisms, results, and the positive and negative aspects of each technique to provide a reference for choosing a proper narrow-linewidth method for certain applications.
研究成果
The review concludes that linewidth-narrowed Raman lasers have been demonstrated via different techniques, each with its own advantages and limitations. The spatial hole burning free nature of the SRS gain is identified as the most promising approach for single-frequency operation of steady-state Raman lasers, offering simplicity and efficiency. However, achieving narrow-linewidth operation in pulsed Raman lasers requires different approaches, such as controlling the fundamental linewidth under high pump levels.
研究不足
The review highlights the complexity and efficiency challenges associated with certain techniques, such as the significant decrease in Raman conversion efficiency when applying frequency-selecting elements into the Stokes cavity due to relatively low SRS gain. It also notes the limitations of pulsed Raman lasers in achieving steady-state single-frequency operation.
