研究目的
To specify the quality of isogams by the use of plasma emission spectra obtained from LIBS process as a simple, fast, and low-cost method.
研究成果
The research demonstrated a rapid way to determine the quality of isogams through LIBS process and using the comparative standardization method. The results derived from this approach were in full correspondence with our primary awareness of the brands and were further confirmed by FTIR spectroscopy and EDX analysis. The linear discriminant analysis indicated that the five isogams, to a significant extent, are qualitatively different from each other.
研究不足
The experiment was implemented in the presence of ambient air, which could affect the formation of C–N compound in the laser-generated plasma plume. The use of an inert atmosphere, for example, helium or argon, could provide more accurate results but is not readily accessible in normal industrial laboratory conditions.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
The quality assessment of isogams was demonstrated by laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) using the comparative standardization method. The intensity ratios of H?? line of hydrogen, the (0, 0) band of CN, and the (0, 0) band of C2 to the line intensity of once-ionized calcium were considered as determinant markers for five different pre-known isogam brands.
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources:
Five different types of isogam were used to investigate in this experiment. The samples were provided from different manufacturers which are henceforth named A, B, C, D, E.
3:List of Experimental Equipment and Materials:
A Q-switched, Nd:YAG pulsed laser, a convex lens, an adjustable XYZ manual micro-positioner, an optical fiber, a compact wide range spectrometer, a charge-coupled device (CCD) detector array, a delay generator.
4:Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
The samples were irradiated by the laser beam in the presence of ambient air. The plasma emission spectrum is collected by an optical fiber using a quartz collimating lens. The fiber output is coupled to the entrance slit of a compact wide range spectrometer. A charge-coupled device (CCD) detector array is used to detect the dispersed light.
5:Data Analysis Methods:
The intensity ratios of H?? line of hydrogen, the (0, 0) band of CN, and the (0, 0) band of C2 to the line intensity of once-ionized calcium were calculated and used to evaluate the quality of isogams. The correctness of the results is also confirmed through FTIR spectroscopy and EDX analysis. Furthermore, to prove the ability of LIBS in discriminating different samples, LDA as a statistical technique is used.
