研究目的
To assess the effectiveness of the diode lasers in both contact and non-contact mode and 0.1% triamcinolone acetonide mouth paste in treatment of oral ulcers.
研究成果
The study concluded that out of three modalities, laser therapy in non-contact mode is most effective in reducing the pain and ulcer size, and enhances healing with no recurrence even after a follow-up of 1 year. Laser therapy in contact mode also proved to be one of the effective modality in management of oral ulcers. Least reduction in assessed parameters was observed in Tess group.
研究不足
The limitation of the study was a smaller sample size; thus, further studies could be conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of lasers in contact and non-contact mode in oral ulcers with a larger sample size.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
A randomized clinical controlled trial comprising 45 patients, each with a history of ulcer in the oral cavity, divided into 3 equal groups undergoing laser therapy (contact mode, non-contact mode) and conventional treatment, i.e.,
2:1%triamcinolone acetonide. Sample Selection and Data Sources:
Patients reporting to the Outpatient Department, in a reputed dental college in North India, ITS-CDSR, Muradnagar, Ghaziabad.
3:List of Experimental Equipment and Materials:
Unicorn biolase diode laser with the specification iLase Complete System weight
4:89 lbs/86 kg, laser class IV (4), wavelength 940 nm ± 10 nm, output power 0 W/0 W peak power (pulse mode), power accuracy ± 20%, pulse duration continuous |1 ms|1 ms, pulse interval 2 ms|1 ms. Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
Patients were examined on day 0, 2, 4, and 6 to check for pain, size of ulcer, and healing time. Also, frequency of recurrence was also assessed in a 1-year follow-up.
5:Data Analysis Methods:
The data was statistically evaluated by using the 'ANOVA' and 'Bonferroni test' for the comparison within the three groups.
