The ceilometer is an excellent instrument for detecting low- and mid-level clouds, while MODIS provides accurate retrieval of high-level clouds. The CBH algorithm for MODIS is also capable of capturing low-level clouds. The study reveals seasonal variations in CBH during the Indian summer monsoon and post-monsoon periods.

The study is limited to the Ahmedabad region and the period from May 2013 to January 2015. The CBH algorithm for MODIS is restricted to daytime data due to the availability of cloud optical thickness and effective radius only in sunlit regions.
