The MgAC–Fe3O4 nanocomposites were successfully synthesized and demonstrated superior photo-Fenton catalytic performance compared to commercial Fe3O4, attributed to the high adsorption capacity of MgAC and BET surface area. The nanocomposite showed potential for scaled-up water/waste water treatment applications.

The study did not evaluate the photocatalytic performance under the influence of competing agents such as humic acid, SO2?4, or HCO2?3 in real water/waste water. The recycling utility due to the magnetic properties of MgAC–Fe3O4 nanocomposite was not investigated.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
The study involved the synthesis of MgAC–Fe3O4 nanocomposites via a sol–gel method and their evaluation for photo-Fenton catalytic performance.
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources:
MgAC was prepared using MgCl2·6H2O and APTES in ethanol. Fe3O4 NPs were grown on MgAC by mixing with FeCl3·6H2O and NaOH in DI water.

Materials included APTES, MgCl2·6H2O, FeCl3·6H2O, ethanol, and DI water. Equipment included a furnace, UV-Vis spectrophotometry, XRD, SEM, TEM, and BET analyzer.

The nanocomposites were synthesized, characterized, and tested for photo-Fenton activity on both batch and pilot scales.

The MB degradation rate was determined using pseudo-?rst order kinetics.
