The study successfully demonstrated the rational design and synthesis of a novel class of 2,2'-bithiophene-based organic photocatalysts. These catalysts showed good agreement between theoretical predictions and experimental data, and were effectively applied in visible-light mediated C-H functionalization reactions. The use of continuous-flow microreactors enhanced reaction efficiency. The findings suggest potential for broader applications in photoredox catalysis.

The study is limited to the synthesis and characterization of six bithiophene derivatives and their application in two photocatalytic reactions. Potential areas for optimization include expanding the scope of substrates and further improving reaction yields.
