研究目的
Investigating the effect of nitrogen termination on the stabilization and properties of free standing two-dimensional layered assemblies of Lonsdaleite and diamond phase carbon.
研究成果
Nitrogen termination effectively stabilizes free standing two-dimensional layered assemblies of Lonsdaleite and diamond phase carbon, achieving bulk-like electronic, mechanical, and crystallographic properties at nano-scale thicknesses. The interplay between confinement effects and bulk stabilization governs the properties of these assemblies, with bulk-like features dominating from 7 atomic layers thickness. Hybrid assemblies and the combination of nitrogen and oxygen for surface stabilization are also proposed, opening avenues for future research and applications.
研究不足
The study is limited to theoretical predictions and computational simulations. Experimental realization and validation of the proposed free standing layered assemblies are not covered. The effect of van-der Waals forces is not considered in some analyses for consistency.
