The addition of TEOS increases the hydrophilicity and self-cleaning ability of fabrics. TEOS also enhances the photodegradation of methylene blue by increasing the formation of OH radicals on the fabric surface. Cotton fabric coated with Cu doped TiO2 and TEOS (Cotton Cu – TiO2 1.2% Si) showed the best performance in both self-cleaning and photodegradation of methylene blue, achieving 83% efficiency in self-cleaning and 74.4% degradation of methylene blue in 2 hours.
