1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
The synthesis of GNFs was performed in a custom-built glass desiccator using a gas phase reaction at room temperature. The DAGS chemistry approach was employed, where nanometer-sized water droplets serve as reaction confinements for the polymerization reaction of precursor molecules.
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources:
Cleaned and activated glass slides were used as substrates. The humidity of the coating chamber was adjusted using dry and wet nitrogen.

Microscopic glass slides, germanium tetrachloride (GeCl4), trichloromethylsilane (TCMS), toluene anhydrous, Deconex solution, Milli-Q water, NaOH, HCl, oxygen plasma chamber, SEM, TEM, XPS, ATR IR spectroscopy, photoluminescence spectrometer.
4:Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
The glass slides were placed in a desiccator, and the humidity was adjusted. GeCl4 was injected into the chamber, and the slides were kept at room temperature overnight. The GNFs were then characterized using various techniques.
5:Data Analysis Methods:
SEM and TEM for morphology, EDX for elemental composition, XPS for chemical state analysis, ATR IR spectroscopy for functional groups, photoluminescence spectroscopy for emission properties.
