研究目的
To upgrade the interferometer-polarimeter system for broadband fluctuation measurements by utilizing improved planar-diode mixer technology to reduce phase noise and allow more sensitive measurements of fluctuations at high frequency.
研究成果
The upgrade to planar-diode mixers significantly reduces the noise floor, enabling the measurement of low amplitude fluctuations across a wider range of frequencies. Faraday rotation measurements are resolved up to 250 kHz, and density fluctuations up to 600 kHz in the core. Further improvements in alignment tolerances and the use of two-mixer correlation techniques could enhance the system's performance.
研究不足
The alignment tolerances for probe beams are stringent (≤0.1 mm displacement), and further work is required to improve alignment for fluctuations above 150 kHz. The small aperture of the planar diode mixers may limit the resolution of small spatial scale fluctuations.
