The PLD method successfully deposited a nano-porous BCFZY thin film with preserved perovskite structure, as confirmed by XRD and SEM/EDS. The thin film demonstrated excellent oxygen reduction reaction activity and stability in SOFC operation at 500°C, with a stable OCV of 1.12 V close to the thermodynamic potential. This provides a feasible alternative to noble metal cathodes for low and intermediate temperature SOFCs, though morphological optimization remains for future research.

The study did not optimize the nano-architecture of the BCFZY thin film for SOFC cathodes, and the deposition rate and film thickness were not precisely controlled. Further work is needed to optimize PLD parameters for higher performance. The cross-sectional nano-architecture could not be clearly observed due to low resolution in images.

BCFZY powder synthesis via sol-gel with chelating agents, carbonization, ball-milling, drying. Target fabrication by pressing at 60 MPa and sintering at 1100°C. PLD deposition with parameters: laser energy density 190 mJ, substrate temperature 600°C, target-surface distance 7.8 cm, deposition time 1 hour, pulse speed 6 pulses/s. Characterization using XRD, FIB-SEM, FE-SEM, EDS. SOFC fabrication by sputtering Ni anode on ScSZ pellet, depositing BCFZY cathode via PLD, grinding edges to prevent shorting. Testing at 500°C with hydrogen flow and air exposure, monitoring OCV for 1 hour.
