Protein Content Sensor based on Plastic Optical Fiber
摘要: Plastic optical fiber (POF) content protein sensor has been developed. This sensor is made with a gamma and spiral configuration, with a cladding peel length of 5 cm. POF sensor is dipped into the container containing Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA) solution with different concentrations of 0.1-1 mg/ml. Both ends of the sensor are connected by Light Emiting Diode (LED) and Phototransistor. The LED light will propagate through the POF and it is received by the phototransistor. Light that propagates will be interfenced due to increasing of protein concentration around the sensor, so that the output voltage will be affected. The output voltage will be forwarded to Arduino Uno and read by the computer. The best results were obtained in a spiral configuration with 3 bending with a sensitivity of 0.007 Vml/mg and a resolution of 0.142 mg/ml. This method has advantages that are easy fabrication, simple measurement process, and low cost.

High Voltage Gain Three Coupled Winding DC-DC Interleaved Boost Converter with Arduino Microcontroller for the PV Panel Control
摘要: In many applications, high-step converters are widely used, including powered vehicles, Photovoltaic (PV) systems, continuous power supplies, Gas lighting and fuel cell systems. The most important requirements in the energy conversion process are reliability, quality, maintenance and size reduction. This paper presents an Interleaved Boost Converter (IBC) to raise voltage gain with three coupled winding. This converter consists of three pairs of coupled inductors to collect energy in parallel and release energy to the series load, which provides a much higher output load voltage than the traditional DC-DC boost converter. To validate the performance, an investigation was introduced by means of steady state analysis and operation. The operation modes and mathematical analysis are presented. Arduino UNO microcontroller was used to implement Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) gate drive based on Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT). The DC-DC IBC with High Voltage Gain (HVG) produces low voltage stress across switches, low input and output current ripple, and also improves the efficiency. These features made this converter suitable for applications where a high voltage gain is demanded. This converter was tested using Matlab/Simulink to validate the performance in terms of input and output ripples. The results supported the mathematical analysis. The cancelation of the ripple in input and output voltages has significantly detected. The ripple amplitude is reducing in DC-DC HVG IBC comparing with traditional DC-DC boost converter, and the ripple frequency is doubled. This tends to reduce the output filter losses, and size. Also improves the efficiency of the converter.

摘要: This paper implies and demonstrates a unique Smart Autonomous power and switch controlled Led Street Lighting System for Bangladesh. As we live in the age of globalization where streetlights are very much important for a city infrastructure in the crowded regions, the autonomous power and switching of these streetlights can have a huge impact in our electricity usage and minimize the wastage of electricity. Usually street light is needed at the time of sunset until the sunrise, but during peak hours (time 17:00 pm to 20:00 pm), the electricity demand is higher than electricity supply from the National Grid for many under developing countries including Bangladesh as this is the high time of excessive usage of Home Loads like Television, Air-Cooler etc. Proposed herein is a design and practically implementation of a smart autonomous power and switch controlled street light system by using stored solar energy during peak hours and light dependent resistor based energy efficient automatic Streetlight switching rather than the conventional switching operations. Besides temperature sensor and Real time clock (RTC) are being attached to display the updated time and temperature to the nearby passengers of the vehicles and walkers of the street sides. Thus, proper implementation of the proposed system will be able to be a medium for an energy efficient circuit, national grid’s power scarcity minimizer and free cost of energy and high reliability.

摘要: The increasing demand for solar energy, high energy prices, and operational costs are all of which lead to several compelling reasons for the need for energy monitoring. In this paper, an Internet of Things based remote real-time energy monitoring system is developed to monitor the solar power generation. Various current and voltage sensors are integrated with a multipurpose microcontroller for aggregating the data. An IoT analytics platform is adapted to visualize the aggregated data and evaluate the energy generated for a given distributed generation system. This helps in continuous remote monitoring and results in improved efficiency of the power plants. The remote monitoring also helps in identifying various anomalies that may affect the operation of solar panels. The results depict the efficiency and error associated with the developed monitoring system, which proved to be better when compared with conventional energy monitoring systems.

Polymer Optical Fiber-Based Respiratory Sensors: Various Designs and Implementations
摘要: This research discusses the polymer optical ?ber sensor for respiratory measurements. The infrared LED that produces light will propagate along the polymer optical ?ber which will be received by the phototransistor and the di?erential ampli?er. The output voltage in the form of an analog signal will be converted to a digital signal by the Arduino Uno microcontroller and displayed on the computer. The polymer optical ?ber sensor is installed on the corset using a variety of con?guration (straight, sinusoidal, and spiral), placed in the abdomen, and a variety of positions (abdomen, chest, and back) using only a spiral con?guration. While doing the inspiration, the stomach will be enlarged so that the optical ?ber sensor will have strain. The strain will cause loss of power, the resulting light intensities received by the phototransistor are reduced, and the output voltage on the computer decreases. The result shows that the highest voltage amplitudes were in the spiral con?guration placed in the abdominal position for slow respiration measurements with the highest range, sensitivity, and resolution which are 0.119 V, 0.238 V/s, and 0.004 s, respectively. The advantages of our work are emphasized on measurement system simplicity, low cost, easy fabrication, and handy operation and can be connected with the Arduino Uno microcontroller and computer.

Desenvolvimento de um obturador de feixe óptico utilizando um disco rígido de computador
摘要: This work demonstrates the development of an optical shutter from a computer hard disk. The electrical current control of the device is made by pulse width modulation, a technique that allows varying current/voltage levels by adjusting the pulse width of a digital signal. This control is made in order to minimize the power dissipated into the device, thus raising its lifetime. The main unit of the control circuit is Arduino Uno, a low cost and ease of programming microcontroller board, extensively used as a platform for electronic prototyping. As an example, we present the use of an optical shutter developed in a microfabrication setup via two-photon polymerization, in which it plays an important role.

摘要: Street Lighting is one of the most important and biggest energy consuming departments of the nation. On top of that, the most difficult thing is maintaining them. Consider a situation wherein the streetlight of a locality has stopped working. Now, the people of that area have to call and complain about the same and wait for days to get it repaired, leaving that area dark and socially unsafe. The proposed system consists of a Fault Detection Circuit using two photo sensors in addition with Arduino Uno microcontroller and GSM module [1], which automatically detects the fault in the streetlight. This eliminates manual complaining of the faulty streetlight and initiates sudden repair of the streetlight by the technician, which is being informed by Fault Detection Circuit via text message. Automatic turn ON and turn OFF feature has also been included using two photo sensors which turns ON the streetlight during dark hours and automatically turns OFF the streetlight during light hours. In addition to that, solar panels have been used as source for the streetlight and LED lights have been used for the emission of light, reducing the cost of electricity by 80%.
