  • Effect of BaZr <sub/>0.4</sub> Ti <sub/>0.6</sub> O <sub/>3</sub> addition on electrical and magnetic properties of multiferroic (1-x)BiFeO <sub/>3</sub> -xBaTiO <sub/>3</sub> ceramics

    摘要: The 0.75((1-x)BiFeO3-xBaTiO3)-0.25BaZr0.4Ti0.6O3 or 0.75(BFO-BTO)-0.25BZT ceramics (x = 0.23–0.27) have been prepared by solid state reaction method to studied the relationship between phase formation, dielectric and magnetic properties. The results found that the phase formations of calcined BFO-BTO and BZT powders are distorted rhombohedral and cubic structure, respectively. Moreover, the addition of BZT in BFO-BTO-BZT ceramics affected to the phase change dramatically according to increasing of BZT content compared to calcined BFO-BTO powders. All the samples showed cubic perovskite structure. The room temperature dielectric properties decreased with increasing of BTO content, the highest dielectric constant with low losses observed in 0.75(0.77BFO-0.23BTO)-0.25BZT ceramic. Furthermore, the ceramics displayed maximum dielectric constant temperature (Tm) above 360 °C. Interestingly, all ceramic compositions exhibited typical ferromagnetic hysteresis loop and the highest remanent magnetization observed in 0.75(0.77BFO-0.23BTO)-0.25BZT ceramic.

  • Synthesis of Bismuth Ferrite BiFeO <sub/>3</sub> by solution combustion method

    摘要: In this work we describe the synthesis of bismuth ferrite BiFeO3 (BFO) by the method of combustion in solution. Using the techniques of X-ray diffraction (XRD) together with its refinement Rietveld reveals the existence of a distorted rhombohedral perovskite structure (Space group-R3c). The average size of the BFO crystallite was estimated from the half-height width of the X-ray diffraction peaks using the Scherrer’s equation. The morphology of the prepared sample was determined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and stoichiometry ratio of BFO was determined by energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS)

  • Modeling of circular fractal antenna using BFO-PSO-based selective ANN ensemble

    摘要: Accurate design of miniaturized antenna is constrained by the limited well‐formulated exact mathematical expressions. Demands for smart devices with features like portability, implantability, and configurability have further placed bigger challenges in front of the antenna design engineers or scientists. As a part of the search for various solutions, many innovative approaches have been proposed by various authors in different literatures. Application of soft computing is also another design approach to accurate design of fractal antenna. Here, the authors have attempted to propose a better solution to miniaturized antenna and its design. A fractal antenna based on circular outer geometry has been proposed as a solution to the search of miniaturized antennas, and a particle swarm optimization–based selective artificial neural networks ensemble is developed, which is employed as the objective function of a bacterial foraging optimization algorithm leading to a hybridized algorithm. The developed hybrid algorithm is utilized to develop the proposed antenna at 2.45 GHz. A good agreement of the simulated, desired, and experimental results validates the proposed design approach.

  • Power performance of BFO-graphene composite electrodes based supercapacitor

    摘要: In the present work, the electrochemical performance of BiFeO3-graphene composite as electrodes material for supercapacitor has been investigated for high power application. The composite material was coated on the stainless steel substrate by drop casting method. The supercapacitor device was made in two electrodes configurations and an aqueous electrolyte of 1M Na2SO4 was filled between the electrodes. The electrochemical performance was determined using cyclic voltammetery curves and constant charging/discharging process. It was observed that the supercapacitor made of BFO-graphene composite electrodes can deliver a power of 18.75 kW/kg with maintaining the energy density of 1.9 Wh/kg. These values are comparable to reported values in the literature. Surface morphology of the electrode was characterized by scanning electron microscopy. X-ray diffraction was also used for the structural analysis of the electrode.

  • Growth of pure and BFO doped KCl crystals by Czochralski technique and fabrication of microstrip patch antenna for GHz applications

    摘要: Large sized pure and 0.1 mol% BiFeO3 (BFO) doped KCl single crystals were grown by Czochralski technique. Structural parameters were confirmed by powder XRD and single crystal XRD. EDX analysis was used to determine the elemental composition of BFO and KCl crystal. Photoluminescence confirmed that BFO acts as defect quenching agent for KCl single crystal which improved its optical transparency. Doping of BFO in KCl single crystal increased its hardness as measured by a Vicker’s microhardness test. The effect of BFO on dielectric constant and dielectric loss of KCl crystal, at various temperature and frequencies was studied. The low dielectric constant viz. 4.5 and 5.8 for pure and BFO doped KCl was helpful in designing and fabricating patch antenna in GHz frequency. As a result of BFO doping, the resonant frequency of microstrip patch antenna can be tuned at 5.40 GHz from 6.01 GHz for the KCl single crystal.

  • Dielectric, Ferroelectric, and Magnetic Properties of Sm-Doped BiFeO3 Ceramics Prepared by a Modified Solid-State-Reaction Method

    摘要: Sm-doped BiFeO3 (BFO) material was prepared using a modified solid-state-reaction method, which used fast heating and cooling during the sintering process. The Sm doping level varied between 1 mol % to 8 mol %. Processing parameters, such as sintering temperature and annealing temperature, were optimized to obtain high-quality samples. Based on their dielectric properties, the optimum sintering and annealing temperatures were found to be 300 ?C and 825 ?C, respectively. Leakage-free square-shaped ferroelectric hysteresis loops were observed in all samples. The remnant polarization was maximized in the 5 mol %-doped sample (~35 μC/cm2). Furthermore, remnant magnetization was increased after the Sm doping and the 8 mol%-doped sample possessed the largest remnant magnetization of 0.007 emu/g. Our results demonstrated how the modified solid-state-reaction method proved to be an effective method for preparing high-quality BiFeO3 ceramics, as well as how the Sm dopant can efficiently improve ferroelectric and magnetic properties.

  • Theoretical and Experimental Evidence of Modified Structure, Magnetism and Optical Properties in Ba and Mn Co-Substituted BiFeO <sub/>3</sub>

    摘要: To improve the vacancy related defects associated with pure BiFeO3 (BFO) different Ba-Mn co-doped samples (Bi1-xBaxFeyMnyO3; x=0.1; y=0.0, 0.05, 0.1, 0.15) were prepared from sol-gel method. The influence of co-doping on structural, magnetic and optical properties of BiFeO3 has been studied in different experimental conditions. Particle size and magnetic properties were measured from SEM and VSM analysis respectively. Again band gap was calculated from UV analysis. The co-doped samples showed reduced particles size as well as better surface morphology. M-H loops suggest that the presence of Mn2+ increased ferromagnetic quantity at some levels. Still room temperature occurrence of ferromagnetism obtained from M-H loops of all samples showed weak ferromagnetic behaviour. In addition the incorporation of Ba2+ at Bi3+ site and Mn2+ at Fe3+ site decreased the band gap which was evidenced by increased optical property.
