    摘要: In this paper, the possibility about information leakage from digital visual interface (DVI) cable for color display is analyzed. The principle of information leakage form DVI cable, which is already documented before, is reviewed. The electromagnetic emanations from DVI cable are measured for several cases of color display which have different color combination. Also, it is shown that the legibility of recovered image is different with respect to the color combination.

  • Block-based Optical Color Image Encryption Based on Double Random Phase Encoding

    摘要: This paper investigates and presents a block-based opto-color cipher using double random phase encoding (DRPE) with different block sizes. The color plainimage is divided into equal-sized blocks and then converted to an optical signal by an optical emitter. The obtained optical signal is encrypted by employing the DRPE technique, which applies two types of phase modulation, time, and Fourier domains. Finally, the optical color cipherimage is, upon detection, converted to digital format by a charge-coupled device digital camera. Experiments and security analysis show that the proposed block-based optical color image cipher using DRPE with increased block size is secure, effective, and including a good immunity to channel noise.

  • Novel Ca20Al26Mg3Si3O68:Ce3+,Tb3+ phosphors: preferential site occupation, color-tunable luminescence and device application

    摘要: A novel luminescence material of emitting color-tunable Ca20Al26Mg3Si3O68(denoted as CAMSO):Ce3+,Tb3+ phosphors have been synthesized via the high temperature solid-phase reaction process. The crystal cell structure, photoluminescence properties and application performance such as thermal stability and LED device performance of the phosphors were researched in detail. CAMSO:Ce3+,Tb3+ phosphors showed multi-color with the different concentration of Ce3+ and Tb3+ ions. Although the concentration of Ce3+ ions was settled and there was the existence of energy transfer from Ce3+ to Tb3+ ions, it was found that Ce3+ ions’ blue light emission intensity showed abnormal increasing with the increase of Tb3+ ions doping concentration. The irregular phenomenon was discussed in detail. The phosphor CAMSO:0.2Ce3+, 0.1Tb3+ photoluminescence emission intensity motivated by 374nm at 150oC retained about 81% of that measured at room temperature, which demonstrating the good thermal and color stability of the sample. In addition, the white LED lamps were fabricated through mixing the sample CAMSO:0.2Ce3+,0.2Tb3+ and the commercial phosphor CaAlSiN3:Eu2+ and their performance has been measured. The results show that this series of phosphors could be excellent candidates for the application of UV-excited w-LEDs.

    摘要: Color vision deficiency (CVD), also known as color blindness, is commonly caused by genetic disorder. Unfortunately, as of 2018, there is not yet a cure for the condition. Contact lenses and glasses with color filter are possible solutions to CVD by applying uniform changes to user’s field of view (FoV). On the other hand, optical see-through head-mounted display (OST-HMD) can provide a controllable overlay to user’s FoV, which could help for making a better solution. To calibrate colors in FoV of a user with CVD, methods that often used, such as the daltonization process, need light reduce feature, which makes calibrated color darker. However, recent commercially available OST-HMDs don’t have a controllable way to decrease the brightness of incoming light. In this paper, we present an approach for light subtraction of OST-HMD using a transmissive LCD panel. A prototype system for achieving a controllable overlay to user’s FoV with OST-HMD by using scene camera, user-perspective camera, and the transmissive LCD panel was implemented.

  • Illumination discrimination in the absence of a fixed surface-reflectance layout

    摘要: Previous studies have shown that humans can discriminate spectral changes in illumination and that this sensitivity depends both on the chromatic direction of the illumination change and on the ensemble of surfaces in the scene. These studies, however, always used stimulus scenes with a fixed surface-reflectance layout. Here we compared illumination discrimination for scenes in which the surface reflectance layout remains fixed (fixed-surfaces condition) to those in which surface reflectances were shuffled randomly across scenes, but with the mean scene reflectance held approximately constant (shuffled-surfaces condition). Illumination discrimination thresholds in the fixed-surfaces condition were commensurate with previous reports. Thresholds in the shuffled-surfaces condition, however, were considerably elevated. Nonetheless, performance in the shuffled-surfaces condition exceeded that attainable through random guessing. Analysis of eye fixations revealed that in the fixed-surfaces condition, low illumination discrimination thresholds (across observers) were predicted by low overall fixation spread and high consistency of fixation location and fixated surface reflectances across trial intervals. Performance in the shuffled-surfaces condition was not systematically related to any of the eye-fixation characteristics we examined for that condition, but was correlated with performance in the fixed-surfaces condition.

  • Deformation-induced transparency resolves color scission

    摘要: Dynamic image deformation produces the perception of a transparent material that appears to deform the background image by light refraction. Since past studies on this phenomenon have mainly used subjective judgment about the presence of a transparent layer, it remains unsolved whether this is a real perceptual transparency effect in the sense that it forms surface representations, as do conventional transparency effects. Visual computation for color and luminance transparency, induced mainly by surface-contour information, can be decomposed into two components: surface formation to determine foreground and background layers, and scission to assign color and luminance to each layer. Here we show that deformation-induced perceptual transparency aids surface formation by color transparency and consequently resolves color scission. We asked observers to report the color of the front layer in a spatial region with a neutral physical color. The layer color could be seen as either reddish or greenish depending on the spatial context producing the color transparency, which was, however, ambiguous about the order of layers. We found that adding to the display a deformation-induced transparency that could specify the front layer significantly biased color scission in the predicted way if and only if the deformation-induced transparency was spatially coincident with the interpretation of color transparency. The results indicate that deformation-induced transparency is indeed a novel type of perceptual transparency that plays a role in surface formation in cooperation with color transparency.

  • Color Constancy in Two-Dimensional and Three-Dimensional Scenes: Effects of Viewing Methods and Surface Texture

    摘要: There has been debate about how and why color constancy may be better in three-dimensional (3-D) scenes than in two-dimensional (2-D) scenes. Although some studies have shown better color constancy for 3-D conditions, the role of specific cues remains unclear. In this study, we compared color constancy for a 3-D miniature room (a real scene consisting of actual objects) and 2-D still images of that room presented on a monitor using three viewing methods: binocular viewing, monocular viewing, and head movement. We found that color constancy was better for the 3-D room; however, color constancy for the 2-D image improved when the viewing method caused the scene to be perceived more like a 3-D scene. Separate measurements of the perceptual 3-D effect of each viewing method also supported these results. An additional experiment comparing a miniature room and its image with and without texture suggested that surface texture of scene objects contributes to color constancy.

  • Delving Deeper Into Color Space

    摘要: So far, color-naming studies have relied on a rather limited set of color stimuli. Most importantly, stimuli have been largely limited to highly saturated colors. Because of this, little is known about how people categorize less saturated colors and, more generally, about the structure of color categories as they extend across all dimensions of color space. This article presents the results from a large Internet-based color-naming study that involved color stimuli ranging across all available chroma levels in Munsell space. These results help answer such questions as how English speakers name a more complex color set, whether English speakers use so-called basic color terms (BCTs) more frequently for more saturated colors, how they use non-BCTs in comparison with BCTs, whether non-BCTs are highly consensual in less saturated parts of the solid, how deep inside color space basic color categories extend, or how they behave on the chroma dimension.

  • An Efficient Approach to Restore Naturalness of Non-uniform Illumination Images

    摘要: Enhancement of the image details without affecting the naturalness is a difficult task, especially for non-uniformly illuminated images. While dealing with non-uniformly illuminated images, most of the available image enhancement approaches show common drawbacks such as loss of naturalness and appearance of artifacts in the resultant image. It is very difficult to maintain a trade-off between detail enhancement and naturalness. To deal with this problem, we propose an efficient approach for enhancing local details as well as the color information and preserve the naturalness in the resultant image. The proposed method is effectively enhancing the local details, along with the visibility of the image (having dark and bright regions) without affecting the naturalness. Experimental results also support our claims and confirmations that the proposed approach outperforms other state-of-the-art methods.

  • The role of carbon in the formation mechanism of F-type centers in α-Al2O3:C,Mg single crystals

    摘要: In this study, an α-Al2O3:C,Mg single crystal was grown using the Czochralski method with graphite resistance heating, Al2O3, MgO, and graphite powder as raw materials. Both the graphite heating unit and the shield served as the carbon source during the growth process. The structure and the optical properties of the crystal were investigated. The as-grown crystal shows a prominent absorption band at 206 nm, 230 nm, and 256 nm. The excitation-emission (EE) spectrum reveals a weak luminescence center (435/510 nm) that is attributed to the F2t (2 Mg). We calculate the concentration of the F-type centers using Smakula’s equation. Using the first principles simulation method, we studied the relation between the C atoms and the absorption properties of the crystal, and we discuss the role of carbon in the formation mechanism of the F-type luminescence centers for a α-Al2O3:C,Mg crystal.
