    摘要: The paper represents the design and implementation of a Silicon Pillar Bow Windmill used in LED output coupler at a frequency of 100 GHz with cylindrical waveguides. The design and simulation have been carried out using CST microwave studio. The designed windmill has a circular aluminum disc with a thickness of 3.19 μm and radius of 2500 μm. The circular disc is sandwiched between two circular waveguides. The designed windmill has been simulated and the return loss and insertion loss are obtained as -22.38 dB and -0.000723 dB respectively at this frequency. The designed windmill has good performance and can be used for low and medium power microwave applications.

  • Features of electromagnetic wave propagation in two- and three-layer cylindrical dielectric waveguides

    摘要: Various characteristics of electromagnetic waves propagating in two- and three-layer open-dielectric waveguide structures of cylindrical shape are studied. Parameters of wave components in separate areas of the waveguide are considered. Electrodynamic characteristics and frequency dependencies for several values of layer dielectric permittivity obtained during the study are analyzed. The corresponding graphs of dependencies are presented. The dependencies of the power flux density of transverse magnetic (TM) waves in two- and three-layer waveguide structures in the absence of field dependence on azimuthal angle are considered.

  • Generation of vortex waves in non-coaxial cylindrical waveguides

    摘要: A non-coaxial waveguide composed of a cylindrical resonator of radius R and cylindrical waveguides with the radii r1 and r2, respectively, is considered. The radii satisfy the inequality r1 < r2 < R. The conversion from the channel with zero orbital angular momentum (OAM) into the channels with non-zero OAM is achieved by shifting the center lines of the waveguides relative to the center line of the cylindrical resonator. The center lines of input and output waveguides are shifted relative to each other by the angle D/ in order to twist the output acoustic wave. The conversion ef?ciency of the input wave with zero OAM into the output wave with non-zero OAM as dependent on the frequency, length of the resonator, and D/ is considered, and the domains where the ef?ciency can reach almost 100% are found.

  • Radiation Characteristics of Two Semi-Infinite Overlapped Cylindrical Waveguides with Impedance Loading

    摘要: The radiation of plane waves by two coaxial overlapping pipes is investigated in the case where the walls of the pipes lying in the overlap region are impedance boundaries. By using the eigenfunction expansion in the overlap region and using the Fourier transform technique elsewhere we obtain directly two uncoupled modified Wiener-Hopf equations of the second kind whose solutions involve two set of infinitely many unknown expansion coefficients satisfying two systems of linear algebraic equations. Numerical solution of these systems are obtained for various values of the parameters of the problem whereby are studied the effects of these parameters on the radiation phenomenon.

  • The existence and evolution of fast-decaying Bessel modes in cylindrical hollow waveguides and in free space

    摘要: The fundamental problem of propagation invariant Bessel beams is that they are not square-integrable in the transverse direction, and are therefore associated with an infinite power flux. Hence, truncated Bessel beams are typically considered instead. These are generated by finite apertures or apodized by a Gaussian transmittance. We obtain a different square-integrable solution of the Bessel field distribution. We show that the cylindrical symmetric hollow waveguide as a resonator modulates its own field during its propagation. These fast-decaying modes satisfy Maxwell’s equations and can be expressed in analytic form.

  • Efficient Finite Element Analysis of Axially Symmetrical Waveguides and Waveguide Discontinuities

    摘要: A combination of the body-of-revolution and finite element methods is adopted for full-wave analysis of waveguides and waveguide discontinuities involving angular field variation. Such an approach is highly efficient and much more flexible than analytical techniques. The method is performed in two different cases: utilizing a generalized impedance matrix to determine the scattering parameters of a single waveguide section and utilizing periodic boundary conditions without sources. In order to confirm the validity and efficiency of both approaches, a few examples of axially symmetrical structures have been analyzed. The obtained results are compared to those obtained from commercial software and available in the literature.
