Tunable 50 GHz laser comb generation of multiwavelength Brillouin erbium fiber laser
摘要: We experimentally proposed and widely tunable multiwavelength Brillouin erbium fiber laser (MBEFL) with quintuple Brillouin frequency spacing (~0.4nm, ~50GHz). Only three dispersion compensation fibers spools with total length of 15km as a Brillouin gain media are used. Two sections of an erbium-doped fiber amplifier with maximum pump power of 220mW are utilized. In the developed structure, at port1, we achieved four quintuple Stokes lines of about 10dB peak power and large optical signal to noise ratio of more than 50dB. Wide tuning range of 40nm (1540-1580nm) in the absence of free running modes is recorded using high BP power, BP pre-amplification, and extracting the residual pump power outside the cavity. In addition, another 14 quintuple Stokes channels are produced at another four output ports (port2 to port5). The whole generated 50GHz wavelength spacing signals can be used in dense wavelength division multiplexing communication systems as such large channel spacing can be easily recognized by the optical detector at the receiver terminal.

摘要: The new services and constantly growing number of users develop constant pressure for current transmission systems. Although the first optical systems started to be used at the beginning of 1980s, the last forty years have brought unprecedented development of these systems. Today's optical transmission systems play key role for satisfaction bandwidth demands. This paper provides short insight into the technological evolution of optical transmission systems and show why these systems are mostly used in long-haul and metro networks. The first transmission systems had transmission capacity around 45 Mb/s, today's capacity is beyond 2 Pb/s. We looked at the key technologies as well as their future trends.

摘要: A DWDM System consisting of transmitter, optical span and receiver is designed. The line coding technique NRZ (Non Return To Zero) has been used as the modulation schemes. The variation in the four wave mixing is analyzed with respect to the designed DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing) system. The DWDM is designed and simulated on Optisystem and their BER (Bit Error Rate) is calculated. The DWDM system is implemented in a FTTH (Fiber To The Home) system and simulated on Optisystem and their BER is calculated.

Performance enhancement of high-capacity coherent DWDM free-space optical communication link using digital signal processing
摘要: In this paper, 1.28 Tbps (32 × 40 Gbps) high-capacity DWDM-FSO link has been investigated for performance enhancement using coherent detection and digital signal processing (DSP). The DP-16QAM-modulated proposed DWDM-FSO link has been analyzed for both adverse weather and turbulent atmospheric conditions. It is observed that when link is subjected to strong turbulence along with adverse weather conditions, the DSP-aided coherent DWDM-FSO receiver achieves target bit error rate (BER) of 10?4 at signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of 36.4 dB, while for similar conditions, the SNR requirements for IM/DD-based DWDM-FSO link shoots by 12.8 dB to 49.2 dB. Also, in terms of operational link range, the proposed link even under strong turbulent conditions serves 1.88 km, whereas IM/DD link was restricted to mere 1.12 km for target of BER of 10?4, thus producing a decent range increment of 760 m. The proposed link has been designed and investigated using OptiSystem? 14.2.

摘要: Four Wave Mixing (FWM) of nonlinear effect is a major damage and degradation of the signal quality in the DWDM system. In this research paper, the proposed DWDM system is 70 km fiber length at 10 Gbps bit rate with 3 channels and channel spacing is 100 GHz. By using increasing dispersion coefficient techniques and dispersion compensated fiber mitigate the impact of FWM. The performance of the system evaluated on Bit Error Rate (BER) and Quality factor (Q-factor) which are simulated on commercial Optisystem (version-16) software. The results showed the decreasing of BER value, which got the superior performances and enhanced signal quality with more bandwidth in long-haul optical fiber communication.

摘要: This paper presents a characterization and a compact model of microring resonator based photodetector designed in a monolithic silicon-photonic platform. As these detectors are inherently wavelength selective they can potentially enable fully integrated DWDM optical receivers. The detector makes use of resonance enhancement in a microring by integrating 30 interleaved lateral P-N junctions along a 5μm radius microring cavity. The performance measurements reveal a peak responsivity of 0.6 A/W at 1270nm with <1nA dark current and <20fF junction capacitance at -7.5V reverse bias.

摘要: Chromatic dispersion becomes non-negligible in high bitrate and long-haul optical transmission that is necessary to compensate to maintain the system performance. One of the most effective and practical ways to compensate the chromatic dispersion is through Dispersion-Compensating Fiber (DCF) implementation for its negative dispersion to reduce the positive one in optical transmission. This paper presents the DCF implementation in DWDM transmission with bitrate and optical launch power variation. The DWDM model using 16 channels with channel spacing of 200 GHz, 300 km optical transmission length, and Erbium Doped Fiber Ampli?er (EDFA) was implemented in OptiSystem. The system performance comparison was observed with bit error rate (BER), Q-factor, and received power for variation of the optical power launch -4, -2, 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 dBm at bitrate 10 Gbps and 40 Gbps. Based on the results, all of the 16 channels using DCF at bitrate 10 Gbps and 40 Gbps completely reduced the dispersion. The optical power launch remarkably affected the system performance in high bitrate.

摘要: In this paper, performance comparision between standard single mode fiber (SMF) and large area low loss fiber (LA-LLF) is done which reveals the advantages of using LA-LLF in closely spaced, nonlinearity prone high power DWDM systems. The effects of high launched power, number of channels, channel spacing and transmission distance on the quality of transmission Q factor are investigated through numerical simulations. In single channel 128 Gbps PM-QPSK system, LA-LLF shows about 1.5 dB more tolerance than SMF while operating with high powers. In the nyquist rate spaced multichannel system, LA-LLF shows about 2 dB superior performance over SMF when maximum number of channels are transmitted and 0.8 dB better performance when transmission distances are varied.

TRANSMISSION WINDOW PARTITION MECHANISM IN A FOUR-WAVE MIXING BASED WDM/DWDM NETWORK
摘要: This research work proposes an e?cient four-wave mixing (FWM) based routing and wavelength assignment (RWA) scheme for the improvement of connection blocking probability in WDM/DWDM networks. However, the traditional RWA schemes are less e?cient for the better quality of transmission, and the proposed RWA scheme partitions the entire ?ber transmission window into N number of bands and assigns wavelength randomly from one of the band based on connection length. Finally, the analytical result proves that the mechanism reduces the FWM e?ect signi?cantly in terms of connection blocking probability with higher partition, lower FWM e?ect and better performance.
