  • Effect of Temperature of Electron Beam Evaporated CdSe Thin Films

    摘要: CdSe thin films were deposited on a glass substrate by using electron beam evaporation technique. The as deposited films were annealed from 100oC to 300°C with an increment of 100°C. Morphological, structural and optical characterization of the films was carried out by using scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) spectroscopy; and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The X-ray diffraction pattern that the film has a cubic phase with preferred orientation (100), the grain size was found to be in the range of 29-46 nm. SEM results reveal that film grains are polycrystalline in nature covered the whole surface of the substrate.

  • Investigations on synthesis, growth and physicochemical properties of semi-organic nonlinear optical crystal: l-arginine sodium nitrate

    摘要: Single crystals of l-arginine sodium nitrate semiorganic nonlinear optical crystal were grown by slow evaporation process at room temperature. The single crystal X-ray diffraction study confirms that the unit cell parameters of the grown l-arginine sodium nitrate crystal. Fourier transform infrared spectrum analysis was used to identify the functional groups of the grown crystal. The thermal stability of the l-arginine sodium nitrate was determined using thermogravimetric analysis and differential thermal analysis. The linear optical property of LARSN crystal has been studied using Ultraviolet–visible spectroscopy studies in the wavelength range 200–800 nm. The relative second harmonic efficiency of the l-arginine sodium nitrate compound is found to be 0.49 times that of Potassium Di-hydrogen phosphate. The mechanical property of the grown crystals was determined by Vicker’s micro hardness test and it proved the hard nature of the grown crystal. Dielectric study reveals that both dielectric constant and dielectric loss decreases with increase in frequency.

  • Hydrogenated amorphous carbon films with different nanostructure: a comparative study

    摘要: The introduction of curved graphite fragments into hydrogenated amorphous carbon films has been studied, and their contents are always estimated by TEM and Raman. Here, we detailedly discussed the advantage and disadvantage of TEM and Raman fit method. Combined with FTIR results, we claified the chemical structures of the structural films and the bonded sites of doped H. The curved graphite structures included hexahydric carbon rings, and amorphous carbon (a-C) structures had rich olefinic groups and H. Finally, the differences among TEM, Raman, FTIR and H analysis in terms of the contents of curved graphite fragments were discussed.

  • DETERMINATION OF THIAMINE HCL (VITAMIN B1) AND PYRIDOXINE HCL (VITAMIN B6) CONTENT IN TABLET BY FTIR

    摘要: The combination of thiamine hydrochloride (vitamin B1) with pyridoxine hydrochloride (vitamin B6) has been efficacious to help the metabolism of carbohydrates and amino acids. FTIR (Fourier transform infrared) is a technique widely used in compound identification and determination of functional groups but rarely used for the quantitative purposes. This study aims to obtain a analysis determination method of this vitamin combination simultaneously in tablet dosage form using FTIR. Amount of vitamin B1 and B6 standard were mixed with KBr crystal in a series of concentration (% w/w) in kalium bromide (kbr) crystal, then measured with FTIR. These spectrums yielded were transformed into an absorbance afterward changed to its derivative. The finest spectrum, which showed the best specificity and linearity, was selected and its area under the curve was calculated. The other validation parameters: accuracy, precision, detection limit, quantitation limit, and ranges, next were tested and determined. The validated method than was used to analyze the levels of vitamin B1 and B6 simultaneously in the tablets. Vitamin B1 and B6 have the linear concentration range from 0.5 to 3.00% w/w. The regression equation for vitamin B1 is y = 0.0608 x-0.0176 with r = 0.9997 and Vx0 = 1.5047%, for vitamin B6: y = 0.0977 x+0.0079 r = 0.9995 and Vx0 = 1.7832%. Recovery results of vitamin B1: 98.98 to 100.93%, while B6: 99.06 to 100.43%. Intra-day and inter-day precision for vitamin B1: 1.73; 1.62; 1.48, and 0.58%, meanwhile for vitamin B6: 1.29; 1.60; 1.78, and 1.39%. The limits of detection and quantitation for vitamin B12 was 0.079 and 0.263% w/w respectively, and for vitamin B6, was: 0.093 and 0.311% w/w. The tablets from the market were tested showed the results that meet with compendia requirements. FTIR can be used for the determination of levels of vitamin B1 and B6 simultaneously in tablet dosage form and have met the validation requirements.

  • Oxidative Degradation of Reactive Violet 1 Dye by Ultraviolet Radiation in Presence of Hydrogen Peroxide

    摘要: Degradation of synthetic dye reactive violet 1 in aqueous media having concentrations 10-50 mg/L has been carried out by UV radiation in presence of H2O2. The change in colour intensity at λmax 545 nm and chemical oxygen demand reduction was examined to evaluate the decrease in organic matter. The decrease in colour intensity was found 18, 25 and 100 % while chemical oxygen demand reduction up to 15, 25 and 55 % when solutions were treated by UV, H2O2 and UV/H2O2, respectively. The radiolytic end products were identified by FTIR and GC-MS, which revealed that advanced oxidation process had achieved the complete mineralization. The effect of different operational parameters such as initial dye concentration, UV irradiation time and concentration of hydrogen peroxide on degradation efficiency has also been evaluated. This treatment can be extended to dye containing industrial wastewater.

  • Characterization of Chitosan Particles via Attenuated Total Reflection Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy, Conductometric Titration, Viscosity Average Molecular Weight and X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy

    摘要: This paper reports the characterization of chitosan particles with a 1.0 × 106 viscosity average molecular weight via attenuated total reflection Fourier transform infrared (ATR-FTIR) spectroscopy, conductometric titration, viscosity average molecular weight and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The viscosity average molecular weight (Mv) of chitosan was determined based on conductometric titration. The degree of deacetylation which was calculated with the help of acid base titration method was used to determine k and α values. Then the average viscosity molecular weight was calculated with the help of [η], k and α by the Mark-Houwink Sakurada equation. Molecular and packing structures of the chitosan chains in the crystal were observed using polarized light microscopy to evaluate the crystal structure of the anhydrous form of chitosan.

  • Photocatalytic Studies of Tio2/Sio2 Nanocomposite Xerogels

    摘要: The use of titania-silica materials in photocatalytic processes has been proposed as an alternative to the conventional TiO2 catalysts, in order to facilitate the separation of products after the reaction. However, despite the large number of research in this field, the mechanism governing the photocatalytic activity of the mixed TiO2/SiO2 oxides is not clear. Titania-Silica nanocomposite xerogels were prepared by sol-gel method. This work has been used to describe the synthesis and the photocatalytic properties of TiO2-SiO2 nanocomposite xerogel. The nanocomposite xerogels were prepared by keeping the molar ratio of TEOS:TTIP:MtOH:DIW at 1: 1:6:14 respectively and the catalysts used were HCl and NH4OH. After the preparation xerogels were characterized by FTIR, XRD, UV and LLS. All these techniques show the amorphous nature of Titania-silica xerogel.

  • Infrared Spectra for Alfa Fibers Treated with Thymol

    摘要: In this work, we attempt to analyze the hydrogen bond network of cellulose by comparing the 2nd derivative infrared spectra of alfa fiber treated with different concentrations of thymol. It was proved, from this study, that the 2nd derivative infrared spectrum is a useful method for identifying the least changes incurred in the cellulosic supramolecular structure. It can be considered as an effective method to gain further insight on OH bond system of cellulosic materials and to clarify some grey areas in terms of infrared band assignment. The careful analysis of 2nd derivative infrared spectra of untreated and thymol treated alfa fibers revealed an increase in band intensity related to both intermolecular and intramolecular hydrogen bonds and a decrease in bands related to free hydroxyl groups.

  • Structural and Luminescent property of Holmium doped Borate Glasses

    摘要: Holmium doped Lithium Lead Borate glasses of different compositions were prepared by melt quenching technique. Fourier transform infrared investigations on lithium lead borate glasses have been made to study the local order and vibrations of atoms in the glass network and it contains mainly BO3 and BO4 structural units. Photoluminescence techniques were employed to investigate the luminescent property of these glasses excited at 451nm. Blue emission have been observed from the transition 495 ( 5F3 —? 5I8 ).

  • Understanding Crystal Structure and Site Symmetry of Undoped, Eu3+:Ba2LaSbO6 & Eu3+:BaLaMSbO6 (M = Mg,Ca): Tuning Eu-site Occupancy to Develop Both Orange and Red Phosphor

    摘要: Double perovskite antimonates of the type BaLaMSbO6 (M=Mg, Ca) were synthesized by standard solid state route. The compounds were characterized by X-ray diffraction and the crystal structure was refined using Rietveld method. BaLaMgSbO6 and BaLaCaSbO6 crystallized in monoclinic (I2/m) and (P21/n) space group respectively. In both the compounds, La occupied A-site of perovskite, which is 12-coordinated as compared to Ba2LaSbO6 where La ion shifts to B-site octahedral coordination due to larger size of Ba as compared to Mg and Ca. The samples were further characterized using FTIR and the frequency of the octahedral vibration is correlated to the electronegativity of the B-site ions. Photoluminescence study of the title compounds and Ba2LaSbO6 was also studied upon doping with 2 atom% Eu3+ ion, which confirmed that Eu3+ occupies distorted 12-coordinated A-site in BaLaMSbO6 (M=Mg, Ca) and symmetrical octahedral B-site in Ba2LaSbO6. Further, the emission spectrum due to each Eu3+ ion at different crystal site was successfully isolated by TRES study. This enables to understand the structural differences of these compounds. This site selective occupancy of Eu3+ ion also has a direct impact on the light emission, which was found to change from orange to red in a dark room in the order Ba2LaSbO6:Eu → BaLaCaSbO6:Eu → BaLaMgSbO6:Eu. Such study will have high impact in designing new commercial Eu3+ ion doped phosphor materials and tailoring of their optical properties.
