Optoelectronic Measuring Systems for High-Voltage Installations Based on Photovoltaic Converters
摘要: We consider the main principles of construction of optoelectronic measuring systems in which the electric power supply of measuring modules is realized with the help of optical emission transmitted through a fiber light-guide. We present various versions of manufacturing of simple photovoltaic converters with a conversion efficiency of up to 50% based on the photodiode assemblies and AlGaAs light-emitting diodes. The factors limiting the power supplied by the optical emission are analyzed. The possibilities of realization of measuring modules based on self-excited generators with resistive and capacitive transducers based on multichannel analog-to-digital converters are presented. The methods aimed at decreasing the energy consumption of the measuring modules are analyzed.

Fiber Amplifiers and Fiber Lasers Based on Stimulated Raman Scattering: A Review
摘要: Nowadays, in fiber optic communications the growing demand in terms of transmission capacity has been fulfilling the entire spectral band of the erbium‐doped fiber amplifiers (EDFAs). This dramatic increase in bandwidth rules out the use of EDFAs, leaving fiber Raman amplifiers (FRAs) as the key devices for future amplification requirements. On the other hand, in the field of high‐power fiber lasers, a very attractive option is provided by fiber Raman lasers (FRLs), due to their high output power, high efficiency and broad gain bandwidth, covering almost the entire near‐infrared region. This paper reviews the challenges, achievements and perspectives of both fiber Raman amplifier and fiber Raman laser. They are enabling technologies for implementation of high‐capacity optical communication systems and for the realization of high power fiber lasers, respectively.

Extenuation of phase shift influenced nonlinear impairments in fiber optics network
摘要: Transmission of ultrahigh data rates through fiber optics networks (FONs) over long transmission distances in an intensity-dependent refractive index medium suffers from nonlinear self-steepening (NSS) and stimulated Raman scattering (SRS). In this paper, a FON model is proposed to compensate NSS and SRS impairments, using a theoretical model and its verification through simulation for different set of parameters. The proposed FON is designed to support 8, 16, and 32 channels with dual polarization quadrature phase shift keying modulation format. The analysis is performed for a range of values for the transmission medium including nonlinear effective area, nonlinear refractive index, and nonlinear dispersion. Moreover, the performance of the proposed model is evaluated in terms of launch power, polarization variations, received power, and length of transmission fiber. The overall work is analyzed for transmission distances up to 1200 km for performance metric of bit error rate, eye diagram, and received symbols constellations diagram.

摘要: We experimentally demonstrated a highly sensitive fiber temperature sensor based on anti-resonant effect cascaded with multimode interference, the sensitivity of 26.73 pm/°C and -275.39 pm/°C corresponding to the aforementioned two mechanisms can be respectively obtained.

Sensor can operate from 0 to 300A and, is designed to be applied in electric distributed networks to power quality measurement.

An Efficient DFG Induced Wavelength Exchanged-OPC Using Only Two Ti:PPLN Waveguides with Single Pump Configuration
摘要: An unconventional single pump configuration of Wavelength Exchanged Optical Phase Conjugation (WE-OPC) through Difference Frequency Generation (DFG) employing two identical Ti:PPLN waveguides having same grating period and a single pump source is theoretically analyzed and simulated resulting in higher conversion efficiency of OPC.WE-OPC has been found very effective in extenuating nonlinearity and inflating spectral efficiency in optical transmission systems. The proposed WE-OPC enabled WDM optical transmission system modeled as a wavelength converter has been simulated with 10 channels offering much higher conversion efficiencies of about 3.3 dB and 3.49 dB for higher frequency band to lower frequency band and vice versa respectively.

Optical Fiber Tag Based on an Encoded Fiber Bragg Grating Fabricated by Femtosecond Laser
摘要: A type of encoded FBG array for use as an optical fiber tag is inscribed using a femtosecond laser line-by-line technique. Each tag included two labels and several codes formed by grating fragments with a predetermined length. Encoded information was characterized by measuring the backscattered optical signal. Local spectra from the internal grating fragments were then used to enlarge the encoding capacity or encrypt the encoded FBG. The insertion loss of the device is as low as < 0.1 dB.

Dual-wavelength dissipative solitons in an anomalous-dispersion-cavity fiber laser
摘要: We report on the experimental observation of dual-wavelength dissipative soliton operation of a fiber laser with net anomalous cavity dispersion. Different from the dual- or multi-wavelength soliton operation of fiber lasers where mode locking is used to initiate soliton formation, no mode locking occurs in our fiber laser. Instead, soliton formation is through the dissipative mechanism caused by the effective gain bandwidth limitation. Either dual-wavelength scalar, or vector, or induced dissipative solitons are experimentally obtained. Their robustness is experimentally confirmed.

摘要: In this talk, we report on recent developments on inhibited-coupling guiding hollow-core optical fibers ranging from the understanding of the guidance mechanism to application fields. We show that a deep understanding of the cladding properties of those fibers allow to obtain fibers with optimized properties. In particular, we demonstrate that, by adequately designing and controlling the fiber physical parameters, one can obtain ultralow loss fibers for the ultraviolet, visible and infrared ranges. Additionally, we show that convenient alterations in the fiber cladding can modify the fiber mode loss hierarchy allowing it to act as a mode shaper, and polarization discriminator.

The Physics of the one-dimensional nonlinear Schr?dinger equation in fiber optics: rogue waves, modulation instability and self-focusing phenomena
摘要: We review the different dynamical mechanisms leading to the emergence of coherent structures in physical systems described by the integrable one-dimensional nonlinear Schr?dinger equation (1DNLSE) in the focusing regime. In this context, localized and coherent structures are very often associated to rogue wave events. We focus on one-dimensional optical experiments and in particular on (single mode) optical fibers experiments. In the focusing regime of 1DNLSE, the so-called modulation instability (MI), arising from nonlocal perturbation of the plane waves, is the most common phenomenon. Alongside the standard MI, other mechanisms are responsible for the emergence of rogue waves. We classify the different scenarios by considering those induced by small perturbations of unstable stationary state (the plane waves) and the ones arising from the self-focusing of large pulses without any perturbation. In the former case, the perturbations can be local, global, random or deterministic. In the latter case, the self-focusing dynamics can be observed both with isolated pulses or with large initial fluctuations of the optical power. We review the dynamics of emergence of localized structures in all these different scenarios.
