  • Optimization of thin n-in-p planar pixel modules for the ATLAS upgrade at HL-LHC

    摘要: The ATLAS experiment will undergo around the year 2025 a replacement of the tracker system in view of the high luminosity phase of the LHC (HL-LHC) with a new 5-layer pixel system. Thin planar pixel sensors are promising candidates to instrument the innermost region of the new pixel system, thanks to the reduced contribution to the material budget and their high charge collection efficiency after irradiation. The sensors of 50-150 μm thickness, interconnected to FE-I4 read-out chips, have been characterized with radioactive sources and beam tests. In particular active edge sensors have been investigated. The performance of two different versions of edge designs are compared: the first with a bias ring, and the second one where only a floating guard ring has been implemented. The hit efficiency at the edge has also been studied after irradiation at a fluence of 1015 neq/cm2. Highly segmented sensors will represent a challenge for the tracking in the forward region of the pixel system at HL-LHC. In order to reproduce the performance of 50x50 μm2 pixels at high pseudo-rapidity values, FE-I4 compatible planar pixel sensors have been studied before and after irradiation in beam tests at high incidence angles with respect to the short pixel direction. Results on the hit efficiency in this configuration are discussed for different sensor thicknesses.

  • Hybrid bilayer gate dielectric-based organic thin film transistors

    摘要: Organic thin film transistors (OTFTs) are key building blocks for flexible, low cost electronics systems. They provide a viable alternative for silicon-based electronics with added advantages of low cost and flexibility. However, few issues like high-operating voltage, low-switching speed, high-leakage current and reliability are still a challenge. The overall performance of an OTFT depends on organic semiconductors and gate dielectric interface. In this paper, we review the current status and trends in the choice of dielectric layer for OTFTs. As a starting point, the performance parameters of an OTFT and their dependence on the dielectric layer are briefly discussed. A variety of dielectric materials which includes high-k inorganic, organic, surface coated inorganics and nanocomposites are also presented. The advantages and drawbacks of each of these materials are discussed in detail. We reviewed the latest developments in the dielectric materials especially, self-assembled monolayers (SAMs), hybrid bilayers and nanocomposites. SAM-based OTFTs offer several advantages but shift in the threshold voltage remains a concern. Nanocomposites are a latest addition to the dielectric materials, which offer advantages like solution processing and improved dielectric constant but have a rough surface. A hybrid bilayer that incorporates the inorganic dielectric as a base layer and a thin polymer layer over it to improve the surface properties offers several desirable characteristics over the other choices. Hence, we propose that hybrid bilayer gate dielectrics shall play a pivotal role in improving the OTFT performance.

  • New modeling method for UV sensor photoelectrical parameters extraction

    摘要: In this work, we have developed a new modeling tools based on physical, mathematical and numerical models for the analysis of UV-photodetectors based on ZnO NRs/PPV-C6 hybrid heterojunctions. The photoelectrical equivalent circuit parameters are the series resistance (Rs), the shunt resistance (Rp), the reverse current density (J0), the ideality factor (n) and the photocurrent density (Jph). A combined physical-mathematical-numerical approach based on the modified Schockley model, the Lambert W function and the optimized method of the Root Mean Square error (RMSE) was applied to analyze the different devices performances. The results demonstrate that the incorporation of PPV-C6 polymer to the ZnO NRs structure leads to significant amelioration in the interface and increase of both the Jph and responsivity with a decrease of the Rs. This kind of hybrid heterojunction based UV light sensor is promising for future low cost and high performance optoelectronic devices development.

  • A novel approach to synthesize nanostructured WO3 and graphene/WO3 nanocomposites: Structural and morphological investigations

    摘要: Nanostructured metal oxide based nanocomposites have attracted considerable attention due to their promising and remarkable properties. In the present study, a novel method is developed for the preparation of Graphene oxide (GO)/tungsten oxide WO3 nanocomposites by using tungsten carbide (WC) and graphite as precursors. (GO)/WO3 nanocomposites are prepared via in situ and ex situ chemical approaches followed by subsequent thermal treatment at 500 °C. The obtained samples were characterized by di?erent techniques to con?rm the transformation of WC to WO3 nanostructures and the formation of their nanocomposites with carbon nanostructures. X-ray di?raction (XRD) analysis indicates that the WO3 nanoparticles were ?ne crystallized with a monoclinic phase even after interaction with GO for the ex situ prepared GO/WO3 and di?erent phases of WO3 appeared during their growth in situ in the presence of graphite. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images reveal the rods-like shape of WO3 nanostructures with uniform distribution onto the RGO nanosheets. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy con?rms the interaction and charge transfer between the components. The experimental results reveal the e?ciency of the proposed approach that opens up a promising route to prepare G/WO3 nanocomposites for many applications.

  • A new non-centrosymmetric Chlorobismuthate(III) hybrid material: Crystal structure, optical properties and antibacterial study

    摘要: As part of our interest in organic-inorganic metallate complexes, we had prepared a novel non-centrosymmetric chlorobismuthate (III) compound with the chemical formula (C6H7NCl)3 [BiCl6]$H2O, by slow evaporation method at room temperature. It was characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction (SCXRD), X-ray powder diffraction (PXRD), spectroscopic measurements, thermal study, Hirshfeld surface analysis, DFT investigation, and antimicrobial activity. A preliminary SCXRD structural analysis revealed that the compound crystallizes in the Orthorhombic system (P212121 space group) with the following unit cell parameters a ? 7.3432 (1) ?, b ? 13.8257 (2) ? and c ? 28.2140 (5) ? with Z ? 4 and V ? 2864.42 (8) ?3. The examination of the structure shows that its atomic arrangement can be described as inorganic [BiCl6]3- units isolated from each other by the organic cations and the co-crystallized water molecules. The cohesion between these entities is performed via the NeH/Cl, NeH/O, CeH/O, CeH/Cl, and OeH/Cl hydrogen bonding interactions between the 4-dichloroanilinium cations, the [BiCl6]3- anions and water molecules forming a 3D network. The Hirshfeld surface calculation was conducted to investigate: intermolecular interactions, associated 2D ?ngerprint plots, and enrichment ratio, indicating the relative contribution of these interactions in the crystal structure quantitatively. Thermal analysis reveals the decomposition of the compound at 180 (cid:2)C. The quantum mechanical calculations such as geometry optimization, vibrational frequencies, simulated UVeVisible spectrum, FMOs analysis were made together with the experimental studies. Furthermore, the new synthesized compound was screened for its antibacterial activity. Results revealed that it has the most effective activity against all the tested bacteria compared to the amine alone and to the BiOCl.

    摘要: In this paper, a full bridge inverter, connected with a hybrid LCLC resonant tank and controlled by the optimum asymmetrical voltage cancellation (OAVC) approach, is presented to achieve high frequency high voltage power supply for plasma applications. The zero voltage switching (ZVS) of each power switch can be achieved by operating the inverter above the resonant frequency of the LCLC tank, which is beneficial for increasing system efficiency and reducing heat sink volume. In addition, the relationship between the voltage, current and the maximum power are deduced so that the plasma loads are able to work near the maximum power point with relative parameters settings. For verification, a 1kW-prototype, operating at 100 KHz, is implemented in the laboratory, and experimental results are presented to validate the parameters design and control strategies.

  • Treating cerebrovascular diseases in hybrid operating room equipped with a robotic angiographic fluoroscopy system: level of necessity and 5-year experiences

    摘要: Background A hybrid operating room (OR) equipped with robotic angiographic fluoroscopy system has become prevalent in neurosurgery. The level of necessity of the hybrid OR in treating cerebrovascular diseases (CVD) is rarely discussed. Objective The authors proposed a scoring and classification system to evaluate the cerebrovascular procedures according to the level of treatment necessity for CVD in a hybrid OR and shared our 5-year experiences. Methods From December 2009 to January 2016, the registry of cerebrovascular procedures performed in the hybrid OR was retrieved. A scoring system was used to evaluate the importance of the surgical and interventional components of a cerebrovascular procedure performed in the hybrid OR. The score of either component ranged from 1, 1.5, to 2 (1 = no role, 1.5 = supplementary or informative, 2 = important or therapeutic). The total score of a procedure was by multiplying two individual scores. Levels of necessity were classified into level A (important), level B (beneficial), and level C (replaceable). Results A total of 1027 cerebrovascular procedures were performed during this period: diagnostic angiography in 328, carotid artery stenting in 286, aneurysm coiling in 128, intra-operative DSA in 101, aspiration of ICH under image guidance in 79, intra-arterial thrombolysis/thrombectomy in 51, intracranial angioplasty/stenting in 30, hybrid surgery/serial procedures in 19, and rescue surgery during embolization in 5. According to the scoring system, hybrid surgery and serial procedures scored the highest points (2 × 2). The percentages distributed at each level: levels A (2.3%), B (17.5%), and C (80.2%). Conclusion This study conveys a concept of what a hybrid OR equipped with robotic angiographic fluoroscopy system is capable of and its potential. For cerebrovascular diseases, hybrid OR exerts its value via hybrid surgery or avoiding patient transportation in serial procedures (level A), via providing real-time high-quality angiography and image guidance (level B), which constituted about 20% of the cases. The subspecialty of the group using the hybrid OR directly reflects on the number of procedures categorized in each level. In a hybrid OR, innovative treatment strategies for difficult-to-treat CVD can be developed.

    摘要: The purpose of the research is to design a hybrid solar collector, called (L1). This Collector operates by solar energy during daylight hours, which is approximately (12) hours, the work of the solar collector (L1) continues during night by using electrical power. Solar collector was tested during the period of December - 2017 to May – 2018.The results were excellent where it’s records high temperature during the period from March - May 2018. Temperature recorded more than 100 Co. The outlet water from the solar collector (L1) was sterilized due to the high heating degree of the water, it reached boiling degree. The design of (L1) is suitable for a lot of environment or weather conditions, because it depends on the collection of the solar radiation in a small surface area; in addition, it works in low electrical power. Tests for (L1) were conducted in Basra city, southern Iraq, on latitude 30.5oN and longitude 47.8oE. Manufacturing of this solar collector is very easy with low cost. It can be used it in houses, scientific and health institutions.

  • Physical Layer Security of Hybrid Satellite-FSO Cooperative Systems

    摘要: In this paper, we study the physical layer secrecy performance of a hybrid satellite and free-space optical (FSO) cooperative system. The satellite links are assumed to follow the Shadowed-Rician fading distribution; and the channel of the terrestrial link between the relay and destination is assumed to experience the Gamma-Gamma fading. For the FSO communications, the effects of different types of detection techniques (i.e., heterodyne detection and intensity modulation with direct detection) as well as the pointing error are considered. We derive exact analytical expressions for the average secrecy capacity (ASC) and secrecy outage probability (SOP) for both cases of Amplify-and-Forward (AF) and Decode-and-Forward (DF) relaying. The asymptotic analysis for the SOP is also conducted to provide more insights on the impact of FSO and satellite channels on secrecy performance. It is found that with the AF with fixed gain scheme, the secrecy diversity order of the investigated system is only dependent on the channel characteristics of the FSO link and the FSO detection type, whereas the secrecy diversity is zero when the relay node employs DF or AF with variable-gain schemes.

  • High-Performance Tunable Narrowband SIW Cavity-Based Quadrature Hybrid Coupler

    摘要: This letter presents, for the first time, a tunable narrowband substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) cavity-based quadrature hybrid coupler. Four high-quality factor (Q) SIW evanescent-mode cavity resonators are employed in the design and tuned using piezoelectric actuators. This allows the proposed coupler to have wide spurious-free range (SFR), low-power consumption, and high-power handling capability compared to other tunable planar couplers. The coupler can be tuned starting from 1.32 to 2.22 GHz with a measured insertion loss range from 1.29 to 0.7 dB. Over the full range, the measured 3-dB fractional bandwidth ranges from 5% to 18% while the phase error (∠S21 ? ∠S31) absolute bandwidth measured ±5° ranges from 40 to 82 MHz with an amplitude imbalance range between 1 and 0.3 dB. The measured reflection and isolation are better than 12 and 17 dB, respectively. Moreover, the coupler has a measured SFR of 5.1–3 fo (lowest–highest frequency).
