摘要: In this paper we present a new technique to synchronize multiple individual unsynchronized sub-array antenna systems to form one large aperture array antenna system. The proposed technique synchronizes the time and the frequency of the different sub array antenna systems, using a joint Maximum Likelihood (ML) optimization for a data aided received signal, while the phase coherency between the sub arrays is achieved using a combination of least mean square (LMS) and ML algorithms. The experimental results show that the proposed technique is stable in estimating the global array antenna pattern and converges within the ?rst 50 samples of the received data.

摘要: The rapid increase in the number of Internet connected devices has placed a high level of demand on both the network bandwidth and the processing power currently available to the centralized physical datacentres that embody the ‘Cloud’. To alleviate such a demand and relieve the network capacity, the Edge Computing paradigm was recently proposed. Such a paradigm evangelizes the processing of data locally, closer to users and so avoiding the slow communication of data to centralized datacentres. The realization of such a paradigm requires the evaluation of smart applications on various potential energy efficient devices by understanding their processing and storage limits, while also looking for efficient methods to improve their capabilities. In this paper, we develop and evaluate an end to end smart office application on a representative Edge device, the latest Raspberry-Pi, while utilizing existing Cloud on Demand services connected through an Android application and Amazon Alexa Skill. The developed solution monitors various environmental conditions and is able to recognize users using facial recognition. We will evaluate the requirements of such an application on an Edge device and explore methods to reduce the data stored and processed, while evaluating the impact this has on the detection rate. In particular, we evaluate the effectiveness of increasing the image compression levels by measuring the level of compression used versus the time to create trained data and the face detection rate it produces. Our experimentation shows favourable results for the Edge system implementation, while also supporting the possibility of the hybridisation of Cloud and local processing to achieve complex tasks while minimising network use.

摘要: This paper proposes a miniature reconfigurable Inverted-F antenna (IFA) covering three different frequency bands. The target application is the Internet of Things (IoT) which requires the use of a miniature antenna to obtain location information using the GPS standard and send it to the server using the Low Power Wide Area Network (LP-WAN) standard.

[Advances in Intelligent Systems and Computing] Advances in Big Data and Cloud Computing Volume 750 (Proceedings of ICBDCC18) || Luminaire Aware Centralized Outdoor Illumination Role Assignment Scheme: A Smart City Perspective
摘要: In the modern era of smart cities, devices are becoming much smarter, smaller, and energy-ef?cient. Modern devices are able to communicate and process with the adaptation of Internet of Things. Despite breakthrough in technologies, a majority of the power generated is utilized for outdoor illumination. Existing smart outdoor illumination methods are self-actuated by the onboard sensors in the luminaire leading to power savings. Investigation reveals the need of ef?cient illumination through the smart collaboration among luminaires. A centralized outdoor illuminating role assignment scheme is proposed to address the collaborative illumination between the heterogeneous luminaires. Simulations and comparisons were carried out on the proposed centralized scheme with the legacy approach and the self-actuated ZB-OLC assignment scheme. The paper concludes with the comparative analysis and simulation results of the effect of role assignment on various types of luminaires, overall power consumption and lifetime analysis of the luminaires with perspective to zones, duration, and neighboring luminaires.
