  • Fabrication of functionalized plasmonic Ag loaded Bi2O3/montmorillonite nanocomposites for efficient photocatalytic removal of antibiotics and organic dyes

    摘要: From the viewpoint of practical application, the development of photocatalyst having strong light harvesting and effective charge separation as well as using abundant natural mineral as photocatalyst substrate would be very promising. In this work, a novel Ag loaded Bi2O3/montmorillonite nanocomposite has been successfully prepared by a facile thermal and impregnation methods for the first time to study its photocatalytic performance for aqueous pollutant decomposition under the visible light irradiation. Interestingly, the Ag loaded Bi2O3/montmorillonite nanocomposite presented excellent visible light induced photocatalytic activities for tetracycline (TC) antibiotic and RhB degradation, which is much superior over those of solely Bi2O3, montmorillonite and the corresponding composite. The superiority photocatalytic performance of Ag loaded Bi2O3/montmorillonite nanocomposite over other samples should be due to the improved visible light absorption, enlarged specific surface area and enhanced charge separation. In addition, the effect of different factors such as dosage of composite, pollutants concentration and pH of the pollutant solution on the photocatalytic activity of the composite was inspected. Finally, the possible photocatalytic mechanism of Ag loaded Bi2O3/montmorillonite nanocomposite towards pollutants was proposed in detail based on the trapping experiment and ESR test. The as-developed composite provides a new high efficiency of photocatalyst for potential applications in refinement antibiotic pollutants from wastewater.

    摘要: Silver nanoparticle doped photonic crystal fibres (SNPCF) exhibit negative Kerr nonlinearity over certain wavelength ranges [1]. At some specific wavelength, the nonlinearity vanishes representing a zero-nonlinearity (ZN) point, allowing for new propagation dynamics of solitons due to controllable interaction of dispersion and nonlinearity [2]. Here we show that the presence of a ZN point significantly influences the temporal trajectory of a soliton during the process of supercontinuum (SC) generation. The input pulse launched in the anomalous dispersion domain but with negative nonlinearity, close to zero dispersion wavelength (ZDW), generates bright solitons exhibiting complex acceleration, deceleration, and shaping behaviour, due to Raman effect, nonlinear dispersion and the four-wave mixing interaction processes. We study the variations of dynamics for different ZN points demonstrating the efficient control of soliton trajectories.

  • Laser-triggered shape memory based on thermoplastic and thermoset matrices with silver nanoparticles

    摘要: Stimuli responsive shape memory polymers (SMPs) are challenging theme as the materials not only shows the shape changing under the traditional thermal treatment but also under other external stimuli. The present work proposes an in-situ ring opening polymerization (ROP) to combine the thermoset hard segment, i.e. polybenzoxazine, and thermoplastic soft segment, i.e. polycaprolactone and silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) as the laser-trigger. The melamine-based benzoxazine (mBz) plays its important role in allowing the ROP to create the thermoset polybenzoxazine network (PmBz) as well as providing many hydroxyl groups to further conjugation with thermoplastic polycaprolactone matrices (PCL). The AgNPs are the good alternative to select based on their function to be expressed by the very low energy (violet laser at 408 nm, 780 mW) and the surface modifiable with disulfide polycaprolactone (SS-PCL) hybridization for the highly miscible and readily dispersible in PCL matrices. The present work, for the first time, proposes light-triggered SMPs via simple molecular design and synthesis based on an in-situ ROP to combine PmBz thermoset networks and PCL thermoplastic matrices with the AgNPs-PCL to provide the light-thermal responsive function.

  • Synthesis and Characterization of Pectin Functionalized Bimetallic Silver/ Gold Nanoparticles for Photodynamic Applications

    摘要: Over the last decade, nanotechnology has become one of the most energetic evolving areas in research field. The astonishing properties of nanostructured materials are utilized in many field of research like energy, electronics and medicines. In this work, Functionalized silver, gold and Bimetallic Silver/Gold nanoparticles were prepared through chemical reduction in aqueous solution, following a method that was affable to the environment; this work will be stretching for photodynamic activities. AgNO3 and HAuCl4 were reduced using in-situ techniques in the presence of pectin and folic acid. Using the optical properties of metallic nanoparticles, surface plasmon resonance was determined from UV-Vis spectroscopy analysis, and the values obtained for silver and gold were approximately 350 nm and 543 nm in wavelength respectively. The absorption peaks of the surface plasmon band show a shift due to the size effect of the nanoparticles. The average hydrodynamic size and the size distribution of the synthesized nanoparticles were obtained through dynamic light scattering. To obtain a better understanding of the functionalization and conjugation conditions, High-resolution transmission electron microscopy has been used. The development of this process, which is compassionate for the environment, opens the possibility for many applications in the field of photodynamic applications.

  • Shape-Dependent Aggregation of Silver Particles by Molecular Dynamics Simulation

    摘要: In crystallization, nanoparticle aggregation often leads to the formation of orderly structures, even single crystals. Why can nanoparticles form orderly structures and what is the mechanism dominating their orderly aggregation? These questions raise interesting research problems, but the occurrences that could answer them often fail to be directly observed, since the interaction among particles is invisible. Here, we report an attempt to discover the interaction and aggregation of building blocks through a computer simulation, focusing on the shape effect of building blocks on the aggregation. Four types of silver building blocks were selected, each consisting of (100) and (111) facets, but the ratio of these two facets was different. It was found that the area of facets played an important role in selecting the aggregation mode. The facets with a large area and high energy had a high possibility of aggregation. In addition, the effects of solvent viscosity and temperature were also investigated. High viscosity and low temperature enhanced the orderliness of aggregation. This paper reports a detailed view of the aggregation process of silver nanoparticles, which is expected to be helpful in understanding the structure evolution of materials in nonclassical crystallization.
