  • Novel report on structural, optical and electrical investigation into brucinium 4-methyl-3-nitrobenzoate 0.5 hydrate single crystal: a promising material for high-power laser, ultrahigh cooling, sensor and detector applications

    摘要: A new brucinium 4-methyl-3-nitrobenzoate 0.5 hydrate (B4M3NB0.5H) NLO single crystal was harvested from saturated solution by solvent evaporation method. Crystal system and symmetric type of B4M3NB0.5H compound were analyzed by structure analysis. Linear optical parameters of title compound were discussed in detail by UV–visible analysis. Lifetime values of the molecule were quanti?ed by ?uorescence study, and it con?rms the good crystalline perfection of the grown crystal. The SHG ef?ciency is 5.11 times superior to the KDP material. By utilizing Nd:YAG laser as an input, SLDT measurement of the crystal was done. The grown crystal has good crystalline nature which is analyzed by HRXRD study. Dielectric behavior of B4M3NB0.5H crystal was discussed in detail. With the help of theoretical approach, few of the solid-state parameters were calculated and listed. Piezoelectric charge coef?cient and piezovoltage were calculated to be 4.5 p C/N and 0.0417 p V m/N, respectively. The TGA and DTA spectrum con?rms that the title compound is thermally stable up to 101 °C.

  • Light-Triggered Reversible Self-Engulfing of Janus Nanoparticles

    摘要: Block copolymers containing azobenzene liquid crystalline (LC) mesogen are used to prepare snowman-like Janus nanoparticles (NPs) by emulsion solvent evaporation. The azobenzene-containing poly(methacrylate) (PMAAz) head of the Janus NPs is in the smectic LC phase with ordered stripes, which becomes amorphous and enlarged due to trans/cis transformation under UV irradiation. The expanded PMAAz can consequently engulf the other head. The self-engulfed NPs can recover to their original state in both shape and LC state via visible-light irradiation. This strategy is promising for programmable load and release of different payloads by remote trigger using light.

  • Effects of non-halogenated solvent on the main properties of a solution-processed polymeric thin film for photovoltaic applications: a computational study

    摘要: Organic photovoltaic (OPV) devices reached high solar conversion efficiencies but they are usually processed using halogenated toxic solvents. Hence, before OPV devices can be mass-produced by industrial processing, it would be desirable to replace those solvents with eco-friendly ones. Theoretical tools may be then a powerful ally in the search for those new solvents. In order to better understand the mechanisms behind the interaction between solvent and polymer, classical molecular dynamics (MD) calculations was used to produce a thin film of poly(4,8-bis[(2-ethylhexyl)oxy]benzo[1,2-b:4,5-b’]dithiophene-2,6-diyl3-fluoro-2-[(2-ethylhexyl)carbonyl]thieno[3,4-b]thiophenediyl (PTB7-Th), processed using two different solvents. The PTB7-Th is widely applied as a donor material in OPVs. The first solvent is the ortho-dichlorobenzene (o-DCB), which is a highly toxic solvent widely used in lab-scale studies. The second solvent is the ortho-methylanisole (o-MA), which is an eco-friendly solvent for organic photovoltaic (OPV) manufacturing. Here we use a solvent evaporation protocol to simulate the formation of the PTB7-Th film. We demonstrate that our theoretical MD calculations were able to capture some differences in macroscopic properties of thin films formed by o-DCB or o-MA evaporation. We found that the interaction of the halogenated solvent with the polymer tends to break the bonds between the lateral thiophenediyl groups and the main chain. We show that those defects may create traps that can affect the charge transport and also can be responsible for a blue shift in the absorption spectrum. Using the Monte Carlo method, we also verified the influence of the resulting MD morphology on the mobility of holes. Our theoretical results showed a good agreement with the experimental measurements and both demonstrate that o-MA can be used to make polymer thin films without any loss of key properties for the device performance. The findings here highlights the importance of theoretical results as a guide to the morphological optimization of green processed polymeric films.

  • Crystallization Control of Ternary‐Cation Perovskite Absorber in Triple‐Mesoscopic Layer for Efficient Solar Cells

    摘要: Controlling the crystallization of organic–inorganic hybrid perovskite is of vital importance to achieve high performing perovskite solar cells. The growth mechanism of perovskites has been intensively studied in devices with planar structures and traditional structures. However, for the printable mesoscopic perovskite solar cells, it is difficult to study the crystallization mechanism of perovskite owing to the complicated mesoporous structure. Here, a solvent evaporation controlled crystallization method to achieve ideal crystallization in the mesoscopic structure is provided. Combining results of scanning electron microscope and X-ray diffraction, it is found that adjusting the evaporation rate of solvent can control the crystallization rate of perovskite and a model for the crystallization process during annealing in mesoporous structures is proposed. Finally, a homogeneous pore filling in the mesoscopic structure without any additives is successfully achieved and a stabilized power conversion efficiency of 16.26% using ternary-cation perovskite absorber is realized. The findings will provide better understanding of perovskite crystallization in printable mesoscopic perovskite solar cells and pave the way for the commercialization of perovskite solar cells.

    摘要: A simple strategy which combines the controlled solvent evaporation and hydrophilic-hydrophobic pattern to allow assembling gold nanorods (GNRs) on a flat substrate with arbitrary shapes in this work. Soft polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) template as a pattern transfer stamp were utilized and transferred the structures onto the substrate successfully. By tuning the structures and sizes of templates, oriented large area lateral aligned GNRs arrays were fabricated as expected. Scan electron microscopy (SEM) images revealed that GNRs had been precisely placed as expected and the assembly is uniform.
