    摘要: Spherical gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) chemically synthesized by Turkevich method, it coated with sodium silicate stock solution (Na2SiO3). Study different rate effect (SiO2 and ethanol) on position of surface plasmon resonance (SPR) of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) after coated by using UV–Vis absorption spectroscopy. UV–vis spectrum showed that rate (SiO2 and ethanol) had effect in the coated gold nanoparticles (AuNPs), that Peak band gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) uncoated at (515nm) and this peak was shifted to longer wavelength (518nm) after coating. Coated after get a little shift in position of surface plasmon resonance (SPR) this means that coated method has an important role in maintain on gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) stability.

    摘要: In this work, the modal analysis and power coupling analysis of gap plasmon waveguides for use in optical sensing applications is presented. The structure consists of Silver (Ag) metallic waveguides separated by a very small gap distance in the range of less than 100nm on glass substrate. The power coupling analysis is carried out at 1550nm for variations in numerical aperture (NA) of optical source. The modes are coupled to the air gap and results in 4.8% to 12.17% of optical power coupling by using high numerical aperture optical beam.

  • ZnO nanorods array as light absorption antenna for high-gain UV photodetectors

    摘要: Hydrothermal method provides the advantages of simple, low-temperature growth conditions, low cost and large surface areas for the samples. Also, exciton dissociation can be enhanced by surface plasmon resonance (SPR) due to the plasmonic absorption enhancement of incident light. In this paper, high-gain ultraviolet (UV) photodetectors based on vertically aligned ZnO nanorods (ZnO-NRs) array as light absorption antenna were presented, in which ZnO-NRs array was prepared by hydrothermal method. Our experimental data showed that the device performance of the UV photodetector Au/ZnO(ZnO-NRs:Au-NPs)/Au can be further enhanced after the gaps of ZnO-NRs array were filled with Au nanoparticles (Au-NPs). The photo-to-dark current ratio and the specific detectivity of the UV photodetector Au/ZnO(ZnO-NRs:Au-NPs)/Au reached to 1×105 and 1.84×1013 Jones at 2 V under 100 μW/cm2 365 nm illumination, respectively. The physical mechanism for the enhanced performance of the UV photodetectors is discussed.

    摘要: Visual real-time plasmonic metamaterial biosensors, relying on surface plasmon resonance (SPR) on metallic subwavelength structures, have significant potential for colorimetric biochemical sensing by simple instrumentation or even naked eye. In this paper, we present a visual and real-time sensing strategy for the detection of the biotin-avidin-system (BAS), which is a powerful tool in biological sciences. The metamaterial, consisting of an array of three-dimensional all-metal nano-cavities, can confine the light into the near field and enable strong light-matter interactions there. Therefore, The metamaterial shows significant color shifts with small refraction index changes. When a monomolecular layer of thiolated biotin and streptavidin bonding to the surface of the nanostructure the successively, metamaterials changes from red to violet and then loden. This sensing strategy offers new opportunities for convenient detection of proteins, nucleic acids and lipids.

  • Novel polymer waveguide-based surface plasmon resonance (SPR) sensor

    摘要: A novel polymer waveguide for surface plasmon resonance (SPR) sensing is theoretically proposed and experimentally demonstrated. The waveguide sensor simply consists of a polymer and a thin gold film on a silica layer. According to the multilayer transfer-matrix theory and the multiple reflection theory, a formula describing the reflectivity of total light power is deduced and analyzed, which is related to the dielectric constant of both the waveguide and the metal, the thickness of the metal film, and the length of the sensing area. By the addition of liquids with refractive indices ranging from 1.40 to 1.47 in the sensing area, the proposed polymer waveguide-based surface plasmon resonance sensor exhibited an experimental sensitivity of 1489 dB/RIU. With a refractive index range between 1.45 and 1.47 beyond the measurement range of typical SPR fiber based sensors, the reported device operates with very high sensitivity. The proposed portable, compact, and simple polymer waveguide-based surface plasmon resonance sensor shows potential for low cost and on-chip multiple channel sensing for practical applications.

  • Miniaturized Optoelectronic SPR Sensor Based on Integrated Planar Waveguide and MIM Hot-Electron Photodetector

    摘要: There is an increasing interest in miniaturized surface plasmon resonance (SPR) sensors for portable biosensing. Toward this goal, removing the use of an external spectrometer is a fundamental step to miniaturize the Kretschmann SPR sensors. In this article, we have proposed a new architecture of the SPR sensor with an electrical response in which the integrated hot-electron photodetector replaces the traditional spectrometer. In this device, the metal–insulator–metal (MIM) junction and planar waveguide (PWG) are integrated together as a multilayer. The structure is excited by a broad-spectrum light-emitting diode (LED) in the near-IR region. The coupling between the surface plasmon polariton (SPP) mode of the MIM junction and the PWG mode leads to predominated photoabsorption in the top layer of the MIM junction within a selective narrowband of excitation bandwidth. The center wavelength of the absorption band is determined by the refractive index of the analyte. We demonstrate that based on the hot-electron injection in the MIM junction, the open-circuit voltage of the MIM junction in the proposed architecture is proportional to the refractive index of the analyte and this feature can replace the wavelength interrogation of the SPR sensors. We show that electrical sensitivity can be improved by introducing an indium tin oxide (ITO) layer as a hot-electron blocker above the bottom electrode of the MIM junction. The response of the proposed sensor is calculated in detail, and its optical sensitivity is estimated to be ~8000 nm/refractive index unit (RIU), which turns to an electrical sensitivity of 12.5 V/RIU in our device.

  • A Method for Estimating the Filling Rate of the Mold Cavity in Nanoimprint Lithography

    摘要: When the dimensions of a microelectronic structure decrease, high manufacturing costs are inevitable. A low cost and high throughput manufacturing technique for nanostructures is desired. Nanoimprint lithography involves patterning the resist through physical deformation by using a mold at nanoscale and has the potential to meet these expectations. Therefore, nanoimprint lithography has been extensively studied in recent years. Many real time measurements have been proposed for enhancing the yield of nanoimprint lithography. Among these measurements, the application of surface plasmon resonance has the advantage of quick, highly accurate analysis. In surface plasmon resonance application, the mold contains a gold ?lm for exciting surface plasmon resonance and an adhesion layer is applied to both sides of the gold ?lm to increase the lifespan of the mold. However, the effect of the geometric characteristics of the adhesive layer on the surface plasmon resonance spectrum and the mechanical strength of the mold has not been extensively studied. To improve the detection accuracy and reliability of the measurement, this study investigated the aforementioned effect. Analytical and experimental investigations con?rmed that the shape of the spectrum is in?uenced by the surface roughness and thickness of the titanium adhesion layer. To maintain the sharpness of the resonance dip, we suggest reducing the thickness of the titanium adhesion layer to below 6 nm and maintaining the surface roughness below 3 nm. Moreover, the proposed mold structure conforms to these requirements and is applied to estimate the ?lling rate. The measurement results demonstrate that the surface plasmon resonance spectrum is clearly affected by the mold ?lling. Speci?cally, the change in the surface plasmon resonance spectrum curve and resonance angle can indicate the quality of the imprinted pattern. This study demonstrates the effectiveness and high sensitivity of the proposed technique for estimating the ?lling rate of the mold cavity in nanoimprint lithography.

    摘要: The efficient structure for optical fiber based surface Plasmon resonance sensor has been investigated. The sensor structure is based on removing the cladding of a multimode optical fiber and replacing it with thin film of gold. The incident light inside the fiber will excite surface plasmons which will be resulted in the absorption in specific wavelengths. The absorption behavior is dependent on the dielectric constants at the vicinity of the metallic thin film. Based on the amount of removed cladding and deposition regions on the core structure of the fiber, different configurations can be considered. Based on the computational analysis, we have studied performance of sensor for three different configurations. Our method of study is based on solving wave equation in different sensor geometry and calculating absorption for different available modes using Finite Element Method in COMSOL environment. The results of our study show that, the optimum configuration of sensor considering wavelength sensitivity is for a fiber which half of core and cladding has been removed and the gold thin film is deposited on its surface.

  • Development of a surface plasmon resonance immunosensor and ELISA for 3-nitrotyrosine in human urine

    摘要: 3-Nitrotyrosine (3-NT) is thought to be a relevant biomarker of nitrosative stress which is associated with many inflammatory and chronic diseases. It is necessary to develop confidential method for specific and sensitive 3-NT detection. In this paper, on the basis of anti-3-NT specific antibody, we developed a label-free indirect competitive surface plasmon resonance (SPR) immunosensor and ELISA for the detection of 3-NT. Under the optimized conditions, the SPR immunosensor can obtain a linear range of 0.17–6.07 μg/mL and a limit of detection (LOD) of 0.12 μg/mL while the ELISA can reach 0.33–9.94 μg/mL and a LOD of 0.24 μg/mL.The selectivity of 3-NT was also testified by six kinds of amino acid analogues. Besides, the developed SPR immunosensor was compared thoroughly with a conventional ELISA in spiked analysis of urine samples. Good recoveries and correlation between these two methods were observed (R2 = 0.964). Therefore, it is concluded that the automated SPR platform can be applied to quantify 3-NT in biological samples with its sensitivity, accuracy, and real-timing.

  • Multiplex body fluid identification using surface plasmon resonance imaging with principal component analysis

    摘要: Body ?uid identi?cation is a key component in forensic casework, providing important information for the reconstruction of criminal events. Body ?uid identi?cation in combination with DNA analysis allows the linking of individuals to criminal acts and can therefore be of great importance in determining the outcome of criminal court cases. However, none of the current body ?uid identi?cation methods meet all forensic requirements, such as a high sensitivity, a high speci?city and the ability to analyse multiple body ?uids in a single run. In this pilot-study, we explore, for the ?rst time, surface plasmon resonance imaging (SPRi) with antibody-based detection to serve as a novel multiplex body ?uid identi?cation assay for blood, semen, saliva, urine and sweat using minimal sample preparation. A training set consisting of ten donors per body ?uid was analysed to determine whether body ?uid speci?c response signals could be obtained. Principal component analysis (PCA) was performed as a statistical tool to cluster the body ?uid samples by response signal pattern reduction and to uncover the sources of variation between the body ?uids. Four principal components allowed complete clustering of all body ?uid types. Blind testing of body ?uid samples revealed that ?ve out of eight unknown samples could correctly be clustered to their corresponding group, three out of eight samples were identi?ed as inconclusive. Although optimization of the current SPRi method is required for use in the forensic ?eld, this pilot-study demonstrates the feasibility of SPRi to di?erentiate ?ve forensically relevant body ?uids.
