  • Analysis of the Source Type Influence on the Structure Forming during Aluminum Wire-Feed Laser Deposition

    摘要: Most of the enterprises around the world engaged in various industrial sectors appreciated the potential of additive technologies. One such technology is direct laser deposition. The technology of direct laser deposition is most relevant for the manufacture and restoration of parts due to lower time and resource costs compared to traditional technologies. The use of wire instead of powder can reduce the consumption of filler material and improve production efficiency. The article presents the results of the study of the additive technology of direct deposition from aluminum wire using various energy sources - laser, arc, and combined laser-arc. Also presented grown samples obtained by each method. Metallographic studies were carried out to study the structure of grown samples from the aluminum alloy AlMg6Zr. Experimental work was carried out on a technological complex based on an ytterbium fiber laser with a power of up to 16 kW (LS-16) and an arc source for MIG welding.

  • Structure and Phase Composition of Ti-6Al-4V Samples Produced by Direct Laser Deposition

    摘要: In this article had been carried out X-ray phase analysis of the samples obtained using direct laser deposition. Two groups of samples were studied: the first one was obtained with oscillation of laser radiation, the second one – without. The investigations have shown that in the process of direct laser deposition, the α+β phase is formed from a Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy with oscillation of laser radiation.

  • Comparison of Titanium Powders and Products Manufactured by the Direct Laser Deposition Method

    摘要: Ti-6Al-4V powders from two different vendors and two different fraction were compared with respect to their microstructures, size-distributions, chemistries, surface appearances. In addition, the influence of these powders on the structure and properties of products manufactured by an additive direct laser deposition method were established. The main parameters that have a significant impact on the structure and properties of Ti-6Al-4V deposited parts were established.

    摘要: The results of an experimental study of laser cutting of aluminum-lithium alloys using a repetitively pulsed CO2 laser with Q-switching under conditions of intense material evaporation are presented. The dependence of cut quality on the assisted gas pressure is determined. It is shown that a high-quality cut with a sheet thickness of 1.5 mm can be obtained at a gas pressure of 0.5–0.6 bar, which is significantly less compared to cutting with a continuous laser power. This makes it possible to reduce the assisted gas consumption. The dependence of cut surface roughness on the pulse repetition rate is measured.

  • Optimization of laser welding of DP780 to Al5052 joints for weld width and lap-shear force using response surface methodology

    摘要: A laser welding of DP780 steel to Al5052 joint has been investigated to optimize the weld width and lap-shear force. Four types of steel-Al welded joints and fracture model have been proposed. Response surface methodology and central composite design were applied to develop mathematical relationships between the control parameters and the responses. Then, the validation and optimization experiments were carried out to check the models adequacy. The results show that there exists good consistency between the predicted and actual value. This indicates the developed models could predict the weld width and lap-shear force within the limits of the process parameters.

  • Influence of Process Parameters on the Porosity, Accuracy, Roughness, and Support Structures of Hastelloy X Produced by Laser Powder Bed Fusion

    摘要: The manufacture of highly complex components from nickel-based superalloys with laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF) technology can reduce the production costs parts with comparable microstructural and mechanical properties when compared to casting. The purpose of this study was to investigate the characteristics of samples produced in commercial Hastelloy X (with w% composition of 21Cr-18Fe-9Mo-0.7W-1.5Co-0.1C-1Si-1Mn-0.5Al-0.15Ti-bal.Ni) with an L-PBF process in terms of build density, accuracy, surface roughness, and interface area between the part and the support structures. Samples were obtained with a high density (99.88%), without cracks and with low surface roughness. From the analysis of the support structures, it emerged that the choice of the parameters between support structures, the lower face of the part (down-skin) and the internal area of the part (in-skin) is fundamental to the correct realization of these structures in order to avoid deformation of the components that is induced by thermal stresses during part building.

  • High-Brightness and High-Power Laser Welding of Powder Metallurgy Shape Memory Alloy: Welding-Parameter-Dependent Microstructure

    摘要: Despite the growing interest in using powder metallurgy shape memory alloys, there is limited research on their joining and welding aiming to expand their applications. In this research, we utilized a high-power, high-brightness disk laser welding process to join spark-plasma-sintered Ti-51 at.% Ni shape memory alloy and studied the primary factors that affect the strength and functionality of the created sound welds such as intermetallics and martensite (B19¢) phase formation. The introduction of high-power laser could impede the formation of B19¢ and undesirable intermetallics such as TiNi3 and Ti2Ni; however, the desired Ti3Ni4 would also be suppressed and post-weld heat treatment was necessary to induce them again. The microstructure of fusion zones was significantly altered, producing coarse columnar grains with centerline and equiaxed weld centers. Additionally, high-power laser welding of powder metallurgy Ti-Ni alloy triggered amorphous phase formation in the welds due to rapid cooling. It was found that a laser power of 3 kW and welding speed of 6 m/min are optimal welding parameters, since the produced weld solidified along favorable [001] direction of strain recovery in Ti-Ni shape memory alloys.

  • Investigation of Crystallization Process of a Single Crystal Nickel-Based Alloy during the Laser Multilayer Cladding

    摘要: The article shows the results of multilayer laser cladding of heat-resistant single crystal nickel-based alloy ZhS32-VI (CSMX-4 analogue). The influence of the main technological parameters on geometry and microstructure formation of deposited beads was investigated. Based on obtained dependencies, the regression equations are compiled for describing the shape of bead and the ratio of directional and equiaxial crystallized sections. The obtained dependencies of regime parameters nomination allow restoring the gas-turbine blades by the method of laser cladding.

  • Welding strength of dissimilar laser-welded NiTi and NiTiCu shape memory wires

    摘要: NiTi shape memory alloys are widely used in various medical and aerospace products because of their outstanding properties, namely superelasticity and shape memory effect. Joining of dissimilar NiTi shape memory wires can be applied in the design of smart components made up of different functionalities or properties. However, preserving the shape memory effect of the welded regions is really challenging due to the influence of laser heat on the microstructure and consequently activation temperature of the welded samples. This paper investigates the mechanical properties of the welded NiTi to NiTiCu wires using tensile test and microhardness analysis. In fact, the experimental results allow to identify the optimum operational parameters for joining of dissimilar NiTi shape memory wires.

  • Laser Welding Optimization Procedure Applied to Cobalt Alloys for Removable Partial Dentures

    摘要: Optimization of fractured or destroyed removable partial dentures realized from CoCrMo alloys are possible due to modern welding equipments. The aim of study was to offer the processing and welding optimal parameters for some long lasting prosthetic pieces. There are investigated two cobalt based alloys, used for dental applications, types CoCrMo. Laser welding equipments was a Mini Laser XXS (Orotig Italia) and the tested samples were welded in butt joint, without filler material. There are presented in comparison results concerning macro and micro structural analysis made on stereomicroscope OLYMPUS and Reichert microscope. Finally a correlation between different welding parameter values and structural features was made.
