    摘要: As for the fuel cladding in the light-water reactor, silicon carbide fiber reinforced silicon carbide composite (SiC/SiC composite) is one of the promising candidates as a replacement of zircaloy due to many superiorities, where it is necessary to develop the end-cap seal of SiC/SiC composite cladding. In this research, the caulking method was employed as the method for sealing the end cap of SiC/SiC composite tube by zircaloy tube where the titanium micro-powder was inserted between two tubes. The diode or fiber laser was circumferentially irradiated on the outer surface of zircaloy tube, and the insert method of titanium powder was varied by changing the cutting method of SiC/SiC composite tube. The results using the diode laser irradiations with the screw cutting indicated that the wider width of irradiation line seems to be inadequate because the shrinkage of zircaloy would break the thread of SiC/SiC composite. In addition, the examinations about the slit shape effect for the flat cutting suggested that the hook slit is considered to be the best cutting method for holding the titanium powder during the laser irradiation where the width of slit should be narrower than that of laser irradiation line.

  • Photodecomposition Profile of Curcumin in the Existence of Tungsten Trioxide Particles

    摘要: The purpose of this study was to investigate the stability of curcumin solution in the existence of tungsten trioxide (WO3) particles under light illumination. In the experimental method, curcumin extracted from Indonesian turmeric was added with WO3 microparticles and put into the photoreactor system. The photostability performance of curcumin was conducted for 22 hours using 100 W of Neon Lamp. The results showed that the curcumin solution was relatively stable. When curcumin without existence of WO3 was irradiated, no change in the curcumin concentration was found. However, when curcumin solution was mixed with WO3 particles, decreases in the concentration of curcumin was found. The concentration of curcumin with WO3 after light irradiation was about 73.58%. Based on the results, we concluded that the curcumin is relatively stable against light. However, its light-irradiation stability decreases with additional inorganic material.

  • Argon clustering in silicon under low-energy irradiation: Molecular dynamics simulation with different Ar–Si potentials

    摘要: In this paper, the authors carried out a molecular dynamics simulation of crystal and amorphous silicon sputtering by low-energy (200 eV) Ar ions at normal incidence. The gradual damage of silicon caused by the ion bombardment was taken into account in order to study the dynamics of argon accumulation and clustering. For describing interatomic Ar–Si interaction, they used three different potentials: two binary screened Coulomb potentials (Molière and Ziegler–Biersack–Littmark) and the potential developed on the basis of density functional theory. The obtained results demonstrated the substantial influence of the chosen Ar–Si potential on calculated sputtering yields and on the processes of argon accumulation and clustering.

  • Preparation and Characterization of CeO2-C60 Nanocomposites and Their Application to Photocatalytic Degradation of Organic Dyes

    摘要: Cerium oxide nanoparticles were prepared by the reaction of cerium nitrate hexahydrate and sodium hydroxide. Cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide (C19H42NBr) was added as a templating agent. The yellow precipitate obtained by the reaction was calcined with fullerene (C60) for 2 h at 700 °C in an electric furnace to synthesize CeO2-C60 nanocomposites. The synthesized samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy. The photocatalytic activity of the CeO2-C60 nanocomposites for the degradation of organic dyes such as methylene blue, brilliant green, rhodamine B and methyl orange upon irradiation with 254 nm UV light was investigated using a UV-visible spectrophotometer.

  • Optical properties of poly (ethyl methacrylate) - cellulose acetate propionate blend film irradiated with Nd:YAG laser

    摘要: Poly (ethyl methacrylate) (PEMA) - cellulose acetate propionate (CAP) blend film was prepared using the cast technique. A Q-switched Nd: YAG laser beam with a wavelength of 266 nm, a pulse duration of 10-ns, a repetition rate10 Hz and 0.018 J/cm2 fluence was used to irradiate the prepared film. The optical absorption of pristine and irradiated sample was studied within 200–500 nm wavelength region. The absorbance increases with laser irradiation time over the full wavelength region which is attributed to an increase of the crosslinking network. Examining Tauc plots revealed a transition of the direct allowed type with optical energy gap value of 4.92 eV for the pristine blend film which has decreased to 4.30 eV after laser irradiation for 90 min. The refractive index, finesse coefficient, dielectric function, Brewster, and critical angles demonstrated dispersion in the 200–500 nm wavelength range.

  • Local Overheating of Biotissue Labeled With Upconversion Nanoparticles Under Yb3+ Resonance Excitation

    摘要: Local overheating of biotissue is a critical step for biomedical applications, such as photothermal therapy, enhancement of vascular permeability, remote control of drug release, and so on. Overheating of biological tissue when exposed to light is usually realized by utilizing the materials with a high-absorption cross section (gold, silica, carbon nanoparticles, etc.). Here, we demonstrate core/shell NaYF4:Yb3+, Tm3+/NaYF4 upconversion nanoparticles (UCNPs) commonly used for bioimaging as promising near-infrared (NIR) absorbers for local overheating of biotissue. We assume that achievable temperature of tissue labeled with nanoparticles is high enough because of Yb3+ resonance absorption of NIR radiation, whereas the use of auxiliary light-absorbing materials or shells is optional for photothermal therapy. For this purpose, a computational model of tissue heating based on the energy balance equations was developed and verified with the experimentally obtained thermal-graphic maps of a mouse in response to the 975-nm laser irradiation. Labeling of biotissue with UCNPs was found to increase the local temperature up to 2?C compared to that of the non-labeled area under the laser intensity lower than 1 W/cm2. The cellular response to the UCNP-initiated hyperthermia at subcritical ablation temperatures (lower than 42?C) was demonstrated by measuring the heat shock protein overexpression. This indicates that the absorption cross section of Yb3+ in UCNPs is relatively large, and microscopic temperature of nanoparticles exceeds the integral tissue temperature. In summary, a new approach based on the use of UCNP without any additional NIR absorbers was used to demonstrate a simple approach in the development of photoluminescent probes for simultaneous bioimaging and local hyperthermia.

  • Tunable thermo-piezo-plasmonic effect on core/shell nanoparticles under laser irradiation and external electric field

    摘要: This work is focused on the characterization of the opto-heating generation in thermo-piezo-plasmonic solutions of gold-PbZrTiO3 (PZT) core/shell nanoparticles. Core/shell nanoparticles have been prepared by the laser ablation in liquid method. Linear and nonlinear optical properties of proposed nanoparticles were studied by optical spectroscopy and the Z-scan technique under external voltage to investigate the piezo-photonic effect. Furthermore, the linear optical properties of these nanostructures were calculated vie dipole approximation method with different core size and different shell thickness of samples immersed in water and poly-vinyl-pyrrolidone. In addition, thermo-plasmonic effects of samples are investigated theoretically and experimentally by the finite element method of COMSOL multiphysics V5.4 and infrared camera under laser irradiation and external electric field. The results revealed a clear tunable and adjustable linear and nonlinear behavior and thermo-piezo-plasmonic properties under external effects. The temperature elevation is ranging of ?T = 3.7–14.1 °C under different external effects. Accordingly, these results encourage to uses proposed samples for the cancer treatment and the different biomedical applications.

  • Enhanced degradation efficiency of mixed industrial effluent by modified nanocomposite photocatalyst under UVLED irradiation

    摘要: The aim of this study is to investigate the enhancement of photocatalytic degradation capacity of mixed industrial effluent using a modified activated charcoal/TiO2 nanocomposite catalyst. These nanocomposite catalysts are synthesized by the sol–gel method. The synthesized nanocomposite materials were characterized to confirmed material morphology and size by DLS, FTIR, crystallographic phase analysis (XRD), SEM, UV–Vis spectra, TGA and BET. This modified AC/TiO2 nanocatalyst removal efficiency is evaluated by photocatalytic degradation of mixed industrial effluent under UVLED light irradiation in different time intervals. The results demonstrate that the COD and BOD show 97% and 94% removal, respectively, at 90 min after that the degradation value becomes constant. Photocatalytic degradation of industrial effluent using AC/TiO2 followed pseudo-first-order reaction kinetics, and reaction rate constant was 1.04 × 10?2. Therefore, the performed experiment concludes that removal efficiency enhances to increase reaction time under UVLED irradiation.

  • Topographic characterization of zirconia-based ceramics by atomic force microscopy: A case study on different laser irradiations

    摘要: The purpose of the present study is to evaluate the effects of different laser irradiations including Nd-YAG (neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet laser; Nd:Y3Al5O12), Er-YAG (erbium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet laser, erbium YAG laser), and Carbon dioxide (CO2) infrared lasers on surface topography of zirconia-based ceramics samples which were prepared by copy milling technique. Three dimensional (3D) atomic force microscopy (AFM) images were applied to investigate surface properties by extracting information via MountainsMap? Premium software which divides the surface into peaks and pits and through watershed segmentation algorithm. This method made motif analysis possible by detecting surface dimensions, curvature, volume, perimeters, shape, structure, etc.

  • Development of Thick Superhydrophilic TiO <sub/>2</sub> –ZrO <sub/>2</sub> Transparent Coatings Realized through the Inclusion of Poly(methyl methacrylate) and Pluronic-F127

    摘要: A thick coating of hierarchically porous double-templated TiO2?ZrO2?PMMA?PF127 with excellent self-cleaning properties and high transmittance has been developed for the first time on glass substrates using a simple dip-coating technique. Comparative studies of this sample with a thick and transparent coating of single-templated TiO2?ZrO2?PMMA have been performed to probe the origin of its exceptional properties. The formation of the composites, successful incorporation of the polymer into the matrix, and the porous nature of the films have been studied. The presence of Ti2+ in the double-templated samples has been confirmed, which suggest the chemisorption of water on the surface of the film. The variation in the self-cleaning properties of the samples on UV-illumination has also been studied. The double-templated film is found to possess the capability of good hydrophilic retention even 2 days after UV-irradiation.
