  • Effects of TiO <sub/>2</sub> doping on microstructure and properties of directed laser deposition alumina/aluminum titanate composites

    摘要: Al2O3-based composite ceramics have excellent high temperature performance and are ideal materials for preparing hot end components. However, poor fracture toughness and thermal shock resistance limit its applications. Based on the excellent low thermal expansion characteristics and thermal shock resistance of Al2TiO5 ceramic, different composition ratios of Al2O3/Al2TiO5 composite ceramics were prepared by directed laser deposition (DLD) technology. Effects of TiO2 doping amount on microstructure and properties of the composite ceramics were investigated. Results show that α-Al2O3 phase is discretely distributed in the continuous aluminum titanate matrix when TiO2 doping amount between 2 and 30 mol%. With the increase of TiO2 doping amount, content of Al2O3 gradually decreases and its morphology changes from cellular to dendritic. When TiO2 doping amount reaches 43.9 mol%, the microstructure transforms into fine Al2TiO5/Al6Ti2O13 eutectic structure. Property test results show that Al2O3/Al2TiO5 composite ceramics have good comprehensive mechanical properties when TiO2 doping amount between 2 and 6 mol%.

  • Near-Infrared-Laser-Driven Robust Glass-Ceramic-Based Upconverted Solid-State-Lighting

    摘要: Laser lighting, generally consisting of blue laser and downconversion phosphors, is considered to be the next promising illumination to replace traditional LED lighting. However, the irradiation of high-power blue laser will inevitably cause significant thermal attack, which puts forward high demand on phosphor converters as well as device architecture. In this work, a proof-of-concept prototype of near-infrared laser-driven upconversion solid-state-lighting is proposed. Robust lanthanide doped α/β-NaYF4 embedded glass ceramics are developed as upconverted color converters and routine 980 nm laser is used as pumping source for its relatively low thermal effect and a perfect resonance with Yb3+ sensitizers. Stable and bright upconversion white light is indeed produced by coupling Yb/Tm/Er doped α-NaYF4 glass ceramic with 980 nm laser but the luminous efficiency and energy efficiency are only 0.3 lm/W and 0.12%, respectively, owing to low Er doping concentration. As an alternative, a stacking structure of Yb/Tm doped glass ceramics and Yb/Er doped one is designed as color converter to improve luminous efficiency up to 1.0 lm/W and energy efficiency of 0.5% under a laser power density of 275 W/cm2. It is believed that this research will provide a new idea for laser lighting and open the application field of glass ceramics.

  • Dielectric tunable properties of Ba0.5Sr0.5TiO3?Mg2TiO4?MgO composite ceramics prepared by spark plasma sintering

    摘要: Ba0.5Sr0.5TiO3?Mg2TiO4?MgO composite ceramics were prepared by spark plasma sintering (SPS) technique and their phase composition, microstructures and dielectric tunable properties were studied. With increasing Mg2TiO4?MgO content, the dielectric peaks of Ba0.5Sr0.5TiO3?Mg2TiO4?MgO composite ceramics were broadened and suppressed. The tunability of Ba0.5Sr0.5TiO3?Mg2TiO4?MgO composite ceramics first increased and then decreased with the increase of Mg2TiO4?MgO content. For Mg2TiO4?MgO content ≤ 50 wt%, Ba0.5Sr0.5TiO3?Mg2TiO4?MgO composite ceramics showed higher tunability and lower permittivity than pure Ba0.5Sr0.5TiO3, which can be attributed to the suppression of the doping effect by SPS. The contradiction between reduced permittivity and enhanced tunability in ferroelectric-dielectric composites was resolved.

  • Effect of K2O addition on glass structure, complex impedance and energy storage density of NaNbO3 based glass-ceramics

    摘要: (40-x)Na2O-xK2O-40Nb2O5-20SiO2 (x=0, 5, 10, 15mol%) glass-ceramics are synthesized by traditional melts method. The glass-ceramics are tested by X-ray diffraction (XRD) techniques, and NaNbO3 as major phase led a high permittivity. A microstructure with nanoscale grains enclosed by glass phase is observed by scanning electron microscope (SEM). With the increase of content of K2O, a relaxed glass network structure is obtained, and more kinds of phase are formed. Permittivity comes to 174 approximately when x=5mol%. In addition, the activation energy (Ea) of residual glass phase for Na2O-K2O-Nb2O5-SiO2 glass-ceramics firstly increase then decrease. Breakdown strength (BDS) of all samples increase and then decrease with the increase of content of K2O, and maximum BDS is obtained when x=10mol%. And maximum theoretical energy density is 1.43J/cm3 when x=5mol%.

  • Evolving antiferroelectric stability and phase transition behavior in NaNbO3-BaZrO3-CaZrO3 lead-free ceramics

    摘要: The stability of antiferroelectricity in NaNbO3 ceramics was found to evolve with co-doping x mol% CaZrO3 and 6 mol% BaZrO3, from a dominant ferroelectric (FE) orthorhombic Q phase (x=0) to a gradually stabilized antiferroelectric (AFE) orthorhombic P phase owing to different ionic radii of Ba and Ca ions. Although a complete AFE P phase appears at x=0.5, the field induced AFE-FE phase transformation is irreversible at first, and then becomes partially reversible at x=1 and finally completely reversible at x=3. The above-mentioned change process proves to be associated with the enhancing stability of antiferroelectricity with x, as evidenced by means of dielectric, polarization and strain properties as well as in/ex-situ synchrotron x-ray diffraction and Raman spectra. A composition-field phase diagram for the NN-based lead-free AFE ceramic was constructed on basis of the phase structural change, which would provide a clear understanding of how ion doping influences its antiferroelectricity.

  • Luminescence and electrical properties of Eu-modified Bi <sub/>0.5</sub> Na <sub/>0.5</sub> TiO <sub/>3</sub> multifunctional Ceramics

    摘要: The Eu3+ modified Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3 (BNT) ceramics have been fabricated by the solid-state reaction method. The impact of Eu3+ doping on the structure, photoluminescence and electrical properties has been studied by XRD, SEM, PL spectra and LCR meter. X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that the crystal structure of the samples is well matched with the trigonal perovskite, and the optimal temperature of pre-sintering is 880°C. The Eu3+ doped BNT ceramics show excellent red fluorescence at 614nm corresponding to the 5D0→7F2 transition of Eu3+ under 466nm excitation and relatively long fluorescence lifetime. The BNT-0.02Eu ceramic density is up to 5.68g/cm3 and the relative density is up to 94.6% with sintering temperature 1075°C. The piezoelectric constant (d33) of samples has been significantly improved up to 110pC/N by Eu3+ doping. The BNT-0.03Eu ceramic pre-sintered at 880°C and sintered at 1050°C has good dielectric properties and excellent luminescence properties. Eu3+ doped BNT ceramics make it potential applications for novel integrated optical-electro and multifunctional devices.

  • Enhanced breakdown strength and energy storage density in a new BiFeO3-based ternary lead-free relaxor ferroelectric ceramic

    摘要: A new ternary lead-free relaxor ferroelectric ceramic of (0.67-x)BiFeO3-0.33(Ba0.8Sr0.2)TiO3-xLa(Mg2/3Nb1/3)O3+y wt.% MnO2+z wt.% BaCu(B2O5) (BF-BST-xLMN+y wt.% MnO2+z wt.% BCB) was prepared by a solid-state reaction method. The substitution of LMN for BF was believed to induce a typical dielectric relaxation behavior owing to the increased random fields. After co-doping MnO2 and BCB, a significant decrease in the conductivity and grain size was simultaneously realized, resulting in obviously enhanced dielectric breakdown strength and energy-storage performances at room temperature. A high recoverable energy storage density W~3.38 J/cm3 and an acceptable energy storage efficiency η~59% were achieved in the composition with x=0.06, y=0.1 and z=2 under a measuring electric field of 23 kV/mm. In addition, the energy-storage performance is quite stable against both frequency (0.1 Hz-100 Hz) and temperature (30-170 oC), suggesting that BF-BST-xLMN+y wt.% MnO2+z wt.% BCB lead-free relaxor ferroelectric ceramics might be a promising dielectric material for high-power pulsed capacitors.

  • High electrostrain with high Curie temperature in BiFeO3-BaTiO3-based ceramics

    摘要: Here, we report a high unipolar electrostrain (0.45%) with a high Curie temperature (TC = 410 °C) in lead-free (1-x)(0.67BiFeO3–0.33BaTiO3)-xSr0.8La0.1□0.1TiO2.95 (□ represents the A-site vacancy) piezoceramics with x = 0.02. Sr0.8La0.1□0.1TiO2.95 was introduced to construct a relaxor ferroelectric state. The obtained unipolar strain was thermally stable, and the variation from room temperature to 100 °C was only 10%. Systematic electromechanical and Raman spectra measurements revealed a composition driven phase transition from classical ferroelectric to relaxor ferroelectric phases and distorted internal stress field. This work provides a novel strategy to obtain high electrostrain in high temperature piezoceramics.

  • Dielectric and Piezoelectric Properties of Textured Lead-Free Na0.5Bi0.5TiO3-Based Ceramics

    摘要: This work provides a comparative study of the dielectric and piezoelectric properties of randomly oriented and textured 0.88Na0.5Bi0.5TiO3-0.08K0.5Bi0.5TiO3-0.04BaTiO3 (88NBT) ceramics. Textured ceramics were fabricated by template grain growth (TGG) method using NaNbO3 (NN) for templates. For textured ceramics with 4 wt% NN templates, a Lotgering factor of 96% and piezoelectric coe?cient d33 of 185 pC/N were obtained. Compared to the randomly oriented ceramics, textured ceramics show lower strain hysteresis (H = 7.6%), higher unipolar strain of 0.041% with corresponding large signal piezoelectric coe?cient d33* of 200 pm/V at applied ?eld of 2 kV/mm. This enhancement can be explained by the grain orientation along <001> direction by texturing, where an engineered domain con?guration is formed after polarization, leading to decreased hysteresis and increased piezoelectric property.

  • High electromechanical strain properties in SrTiO3?modified Bi1/2Na1/2TiO3?KTaO3 lead?free piezoelectric ceramics under low electric field

    摘要: This study investigated the structures, dielectric, ferroelectric and piezoelectric properties of (0.99?x)Bi1/2Na1/2TiO3?0.01KTaO3?xSrTiO3 (BNT?KT?100xST, x = 0.20 ~ 0.235) lead?free piezoelectric ceramics. These piezoceramics were synthesized by conventional solid?state reaction method. As a consequence, a large electrical strain and normalized strain (d33* ≈ 793 pm/V) can be obtained even under 3 kV/mm as low electric field for BNT?KT?22.5ST ceramics. The phase transition between nonergodic relaxor (NER) and ergodic relaxor (ER) under electric field might be responsible for its large strain. It means that BNT?KT?100xST lead?free ceramics can be a promising candidate for actuator applications.
