High-Resolution Temperature Sensor Based on Single-Frequency Ring Fiber Laser via Optical Heterodyne Spectroscopy Technology
摘要: We demonstrate a high-resolution temperature sensor based on optical heterodyne spectroscopy technology by virtue of the narrow linewidth characteristic of a single-frequency fiber laser. When the single-frequency ring fiber laser has a Lorentzian-linewidth <1 kHz and the temperature sensor operates in the range of 3?85 ?C, an average sensitivity of 14.74 pm/?C is obtained by an optical spectrum analyzer. Furthermore, a resolution as high as ~5 × 10?3 ?C is demonstrated through optical heterodyne spectroscopy technology by an electrical spectrum analyzer in the range of 18.26–18.71 ?C with the figure of merit up to 3.1 × 105 in the experiment.

Molten salt synthesis of highly ordered and nanostructured hexagonal boron nitride
摘要: Hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) is a well-known ceramic that has wide application areas ranging from electronics to metallurgy. However, highly ordered h-BN is conventionally synthesized at high temperatures above 1800 °C. In this work, we investigated the formation of BN from boric acid (H3BO3)-ammonium chloride (NH4Cl) mixture in the sodium chloride (NaCl)-potassium chloride (KCl) eutectic salt. We report the synthesis of highly ordered and nanostructured h-BN at 1000 °C using molten salt synthesis. The effect of starting composition, synthesis temperature, and dwell time on BN formation and its structural ordering were systematically investigated. It is concluded that the molten salt plays important roles in the formation of BN and its structural ordering, which is achieved by i) decomposing the boron (B)-nitrogen (N) bearing reactants that lead to the formation of BN layers, and ii) increasing the mobility of BN layers formed. Furthermore, we propose a possible reaction mechanism that governs the BN formation from the reactant mixture in molten salts and explain the observations based on thermodynamic and kinetic considerations.

Nondestructive nanofabrication on monocrystalline silicon via site-controlled formation and removal of oxide mask
摘要: A nondestructively patterned silicon substrate serves as an ideal support for forming high-quality optical structures or devices. A new approach was proposed for fabricating site-controlled structures without destruction on a monocrystalline silicon surface via local anodic oxidation (LAO) and two-step postetching. The nondestruction was demonstrated by conductivity detection with conductive atomic force microscopy (AFM), and an almost perfect crystal lattice was observed from the fabricated hillock by high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM). By programming AFM tip traces for LAO processing, site-controlled nondestructive patterns with di?erent layouts can be produced. This approach provides a new route for realizing nondestructive optical substrates.

摘要: At Tor Vergata University we are working on measurements and phenomenological characterization of urban, suburban and country radar clutter at X-band (3 cm wavelength, range resolution 8 to 10 m, azimuth resolution @ 1 km about 23.5 m) and on the related radar calibration problems. Measurements are 'high resolution' when compared to most surveillance radars, and the related applications are in the frame of clutter maps for cognitive radar, drones detection, radar ornithology, and more. After calibration, done using opportunity targets with known radar cross section and a clutter fence, we carry on an analysis and a comparison of land clutter, considering different weather conditions: dry and wet soil, as well as the rare event of snow. Using fixed opportunity targets, such as lamppost and/or a large cylindrical steel tanker, we describe the attenuation effects due to the natural clutter fence (in this case due to cane thicket near to the target position) and its mitigation when the natural fence is gradually removed. Finally, but importantly, we analyze the multipath phenomenon due to reflection/scattering on ground, and propose a procedure to estimate the multipath factor and to correct for it.

Scale-variable region-merging for high resolution remote sensing image segmentation
摘要: In high resolution remote sensing imagery (HRI), the sizes of different geo-objects often vary greatly, posing serious difficulties to their successful segmentation. Although existent segmentation approaches have provided some solutions to this problem, the complexity of HRI may still lead to great challenges for previous methods. In order to further enhance the quality of HRI segmentation, this paper proposes a new segmentation algorithm based on scale-variable region merging. Scale-variable means that the scale parameters (SP) adopted for segmentation are adaptively estimated, so that geo-objects of various sizes can be better segmented out. To implement the proposed technique, 3 steps are designed. The first step produces a coarse-segmentation result with slight degree of under segmentation error. This is achieved by segmenting a half size image with the global optimal SP. Such a SP is determined by using the image of original size. In the second step, structural and spatial contextual information is extracted from the coarse-segmentation, enabling the estimation of variable SPs. In the last step, a region merging process is initiated, and the SPs used to terminate this process are estimated based on the information obtained in the second step. The proposed method was tested by using 3 scenes of HRI with different landscape patterns. Experimental results indicated that our approach produced good segmentation accuracy, outperforming some competitive methods in comparison.

Extended analysis of FTIR high resolution spectra of HD32S and HD34S in the region of the ν2 band: Positions and strengths of individual lines
摘要: The high resolution infrared spectra of deuterated hydrogen sulfide HDS were recorded with a Bruker IFS125HR Fourier transform infrared spectrometer (Zurich prototype ZP2001) and analyzed in the ν2 fundamental band region, 690–1510 cm?1. 2684 transitions with maximum values of the quantum numbers Jmax.=25 and Kmax.a=17 were assigned in the experimental spectra to the ν2 band (compared to Jmax.=22 and Kmax.a=10 in the preceding analogous studies) of HD32S. On this basis, 415 upper ro–vibrational energies were obtained, which were used then in the weighted fit of the Watson Hamiltonian parameters. 33 parameters obtained from the fit reproduce the 415 initial energy values with a root mean square deviation drms=1.1×10?? cm?1. An analysis of 418 experimental ro–vibrational line intensities of the ν2 band of HD32S was made using the Hartmann–Tran profile of individual lines, and results were applied in the fit of parameters of the effective dipole moment operator. Isotopic relations for the dipole moment parameters were derived and used for the fit procedure. The obtained 'model' parameters reproduce the initial line strengths with the drms=4.7%. A list of 2684 experimental transitions of HDS is generated together with the presentation of their individual line strengths predicted on the basis of the obtained effective dipole moment parameters. An analogous analysis was fulfilled for the ν2 band of the HD3?S isotopologue.

Evolution of sinkholes over Wink, Texas, observed by high-resolution optical and SAR imagery
摘要: Two caprock and cover collapse sinkholes, Wink Sinks #1 and #2, in Winkler County, Texas, collapsed in 1980 and 2002, respectively. They are located in a region underlain by the Salado Formation on the eastern edge of the Delaware Basin. The sinkhole collapses were associated with intense hydrocarbon drilling and production activities in the Hendrick oilfield. Production records and prior investigations imply the sinkholes developed after salt dissolution due to freshwater intrusion, cavity formation, roof failure, and successive upward cavity migration. High-resolution (1 m) aerial photography shows the ensuing expansion of Wink Sink #2 from 2002 through 2010 and relative stability of the ground surface after 2010. Very high-resolution (25 cm) staring spotlight mode TerraSAR-X reveals the spatiotemporal details of Wink sinkhole deformations. The vicinities around the two existing sinkholes (Wink Sinks #1, #2) deformed at a rate of 5 cm/yr in line-of-sight (LOS) direction from October 2015 to March 2016, and the deformation was possibly caused by the gradual deposit of the debris from overlying unconsolidated Alluvium and Santa Rosa sandstones infilling the cavity after the sinkhole collapse. Specifically, the largest deformation of 53 cm/yr in LOS direction was found 1 km east of Wink Sink #2. Our study suggests that severe drought in 2011 widened and created fractures as well as ground fissures in the rocks overlying and underlying the salt formation due to the increased effective stress. Fractures, ground fissures, and the abandoned unplugged boreholes or improperly completed wells opened one or more vertical pathways of freshwater from groundwater flow and precipitation toward the salt bed, finally causing the rapid salt dissolution and the opening of new cavities. To explain the onset of a rapid subsidence near the Wink sinkholes, our study considers the combined effect of natural perturbation (i.e., drought, rock fractures, ground fissures, subsurface drainage, precipitation) and anthropogenic effects (i.e., improper well control). Our method to explore high-resolution imagery can be applied to characterize the sinkhole deformation and mitigate sinkhole-related geohazards.

Rapid mapping application of vegetated terraces based on high resolution airborne LiDAR
摘要: The aim of this work is to define a methodology for terraced areas survey and rapid mapping in a complex environment, like Ligurian (Northwestern Italy) one, where a remarkable percentage of its surface is estimated as terraced and where the canopy coverage makes their recognition very hard. Methodology steps are the definition of LiDAR survey parameters, morphometric filtering and GIS processing for final mapping. Each phase is oriented to provide a reliable terrace mapping, also practicable in canopy-covered areas due to a particular attention to land cover influence. The work considers a case study (Rupinaro basin) close to Cinque Terre, with a mixed land cover (terraces, forest and urbanized areas). The methodology provided encouraging results detecting 448 ha of terraces, 95% of them located under canopy cover. This finding pointed out that terraces mapping cannot rely only on photo-interpretation, as canopies will hamper their detection. Mapping of these areas, frequently characterized by abandonment, is crucial while identifying potential trigger factors for slope instabilities. This case study highlighted the importance of a carefully planned production chain, that should start from LiDAR survey parameter choice, providing the best input for analysis algorithm and providing the correct identification of terraces.

摘要: The range resolution of the traditional single radar imaging system is limited by the bandwidth of the transmitted signal, while the cross resolution is limited by its observation angle range. In this paper, a high resolution 2d-imaging method using data fusion technique is proposed. First, we introduce the theoretical basis of multi-radar data fusion imaging based on the 2d-radar echo sparse representation model. Then, sparse parameters of multi-radar echo are obtained by ExCoV algorithm. Finally, we get lost echo data by interpolation and extrapolation and realize the fusion process. The simulation results show that the image quality is improved after radar data fusion, which is better than that of the single radar echo, verifying the effectiveness of our method.

Pre-treatment for preventing degradation of measurement accuracy from speckle noise in speckle interferometry
摘要: Speckle interferometers, which can measure three-dimensional deformations with the same sensitivity in each direction of a three-dimensional axis, have been employed in the industry. However, the measurement results of a complex shape deformation using this method do not always produce a smooth phase map due to the influence of speckle noise. In this paper, this problem that occurs with speckle noise, which is included in the speckle pattern, is discussed. In addition, the solution to the problem concerning speckle noise is discussed. An idea for noise reduction is proposed by using a simple speckle pattern intensity distribution model based on the interferometry. It is confirmed that the proposed method can reduce the influence of speckle noise to 1/1000 of the light source wavelength.
