A Compact X-Band Vector Network Analyzer for Microwave Image Sensing
摘要: This work develops a compact and portable X-band vector network analyzer (VNA) for low-cost microwave image sensing applications. Since significant local oscillator (LO) injection pulling and poor LO phase noise performance may reduce the accuracy of measurement, the developed VNA uses the single-conversion technique and the phase noise cancellation technique to suppress the injection pulling effect and the LO phase noise, respectively. A hybrid phase detection algorithm that includes arctangent, arcsine and arccosine functions is proposed to overcome the bottleneck of the distortion of conventional quadrature phase detection in some phase regions. Experimental results demonstrate that the X-band microwave image sensing system that uses the developed VNA, which is highly compact and portable, can effectively yield a contour image of bones in a chicken wing and pork ribs.

Self-Powered Filterless Narrow-Band pa??n Heterojunction Photodetector for Low Background Limited Near-Infrared Image Sensor Application
摘要: Photonic detection with narrow spectrum selectivity is very important to eliminate the signal from obtrusive light, which can improve the anti-interference ability of the infrared imaging system. While self-driving effect inherent to p-n junction is very attractive in optic-electronic integration, the application of p-n junction in narrow-band photodetector is limited by the usual broad absorption range. In this work, a self-powered filterless narrowband near-infrared photodetector based on CuGaTe2/silicon p-n junction was reported. The as-fabricated photodetector exhibited typical narrow-band response which shall be ascribed to the slightly smaller bandgap of Si than CuGaTe2 and the restricted photocurrent generation region in the p-n heterojunction by optimizing CuGaTe2 thickness. It is observed that when the thickness of CuGaTe2 film is 143 nm, the device exhibits a response peak centered around 1050 nm with a full-width at half-maximum of ~118 nm. Further device analysis reveals a specific detectivity of ~1012 Jones and a responsivity of 114 mA/W under 1064 nm illumination at zero bias. It was also found that image system based on the narrowband CuGaTe2/Si photodetector showed high noise immunity for its spectral selective characteristics.

Flexible lateral-bridged ZnO nanowire UV sensor for focal-plane image sensor application
摘要: We report a large-format ?exible UV image-sensing array consisting of 32 ' 32 sensors based on lateral-bridged ZnO nanowires (NWs). Systematic investigations for the array have shown that 100% of the sensors showed a response with high uniformity (the nonuniformity of photocurrent was 44%) and high average light–dark current ratio (>1.1 ' 105), average responsivity (>923 A/W), and average detectivity (>2.5 ' 1014 Jones). The pixel size is 60 ' 125 μm2 and pixel pitch is 150 μm. The array also exhibited excellent ?exibility and electrical stability under the bending state. The results indicate that the sensor array o?ers exacting possibilities for fabricating ?exible UV focal-plane image sensors.
