Measuring effective electro-optic coefficient at 1040?nm by spectral intensity modulation with THz time-domain spectroscopy
摘要: We report a single method for measuring the e?ective electro-optics (EO) coe?cient only by spectral intensity modulation with a terahertz time-domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS) device. Compared with conventional methods, the measuring device based on THz-TDS by probing the spectral intensity modulation is simple, rapid, and highly sensitive. It does not require special preparation process, electrode contact or applying high voltage on the sensor samples. The EO coe?cients of four kinds of materials, namely, ZnTe and GaP crystals, DAST wafer and GaSe ?lm, are measured at 1040 nm. The results showed good agreement with literature data by the conventional methods.

Up-Converting Lanthanide Fluoride Core@Shell Nanorods for Luminescent Thermometry in the First and Second Biological Windows - β-NaYF4: Yb3+, Er3+@SiO2 Temperature Sensor
摘要: Up-converting core@shell type β-NaYF4:Yb3+-Er3+@SiO2 nanorods have been obtained by a two-step synthesis process, which encompasses hydrothermal and microemulsion routes. The synthesized nanomaterial forms stable aqueous colloids and exhibits a bright dual-center emission (λex= 975 nm), i.e. up-conversion luminescence of Er3+ and down-shifting emission of Yb3+, located in the first (I-BW) and the second (II-BW) biological windows of the spectral range. The intensity ratios of the emission bands of Er3+ and Yb3+ observed in the Vis-NIR range monotonously change with temperature, i.e. the thermalized Er3+ levels (2H11/2→4I15/2/4S3/2→4I15/2) and the non-thermally coupled Yb3+/Er3+ levels (2F5/2→2F7/2/4I9/2→4I15/2 or 4F9/2→4I15/2). Hence, their thermal evolutions have been correlated with temperature using the Boltzmann type distribution and 2-th order polynomial fits for temperature sensing purposes, i.e. Er3+ 525/545 nm (max Sr = 1.31 %K-1) and Yb3+/Er3+ 1010/810 nm (1.64 %K-1) or 1010/660 nm (0.96 %K-1). Additionally, a fresh chicken breast was used as a tissue imitation in the performed ex vivo experiment, showing the advantage of the use of NIR Yb3+/Er3+ bands, vs. the typically used Er3+ 525/545 nm band ratio, i.e. better penetration of the luminescence signal through the tissue in the I-BW and II-BW. Such nanomaterials can be utilized as accurate and effective, broad-range Vis-NIR optical, contactless sensors of temperature.

The influence of particle size on the intensity and reproducibility of Raman spectra of compacted samples
摘要: Given the growing interest in the application of Raman spectroscopy for quantitative purposes in solid pharmaceutical preparations, a revision of the effect of particle size on Raman spectra of compacted samples is presented. For this purpose, a set of tablets of potassium hydrogen phthalate (KHP) of different particle size were prepared. KHP was used because of its purity and stability, which allow to consider that samples will not be altered during measurements; but also because of its chemical structure (aromatic ring and carboxylic groups), that are present in many active pharmaceutical ingredients (API). The latter makes possible to consider KHP as a model pseudo-API. As KHP tablets only contain a pure compound, the mapping strategy that was considered for measuring our samples will not be affected by subsampling issues. The spectra variance can be attributed to the intrinsically reproducibility in recording the spectra (which mainly depends on the instrument set-up) and the site-to-site differences in elastic scattering properties. Two different instrumental optics have been studied: a macro-Raman system and a Raman microscope (500 μm and 50 μm laser spot size, respectively). The effect of the spectra preprocessing is also evaluated. The overall results demonstrate raw Raman intensity increases with particle size up to a value that depends on tablet width and that the applied spectral preprocessing (baseline correction and a unit vector normalization), reduces the differences in Raman intensities due to the particle size, but does not completely eliminate it for the lower particle sizes (< 20 μm). For tablets containing particles with predefined sizes, it corrects the mapping site-to-site differences in elastic scattering.

Temperature sensitive properties of Eu2+/Eu3+ dual-emitting LaAlO3 phosphors
摘要: In this study, Eu2+/Eu3+ coexisting perovskite LaAlO3 phosphors were synthesized by a traditional high-temperature solid-phase reaction method and investigated via X-ray diffraction data, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and temperature-dependent photoluminescence spectra. The Eu2+/Eu3+ coexisting LaAlO3 phosphors exhibit excellent optical temperature sensing characteristics and are potential inorganic materials for temperature detection. The measured maximal absolute temperature sensitivity reaches 0.014 K-1, and the corresponding largest relative temperature sensitivity is 1.193% K-1, which are superior to most of previous reports of that. Meanwhile, the monitored signal peaks are well separated, providing a good signal discriminability. The energy level crossover relaxation of Eu2+ and Struck-Fonger crossover process involving O2–-Eu3+ charge transfer band were used to explain the different temperature-dependent responses of Eu2+ and Eu3+. This work may give new ideas for the future research of optical thermometric materials with high sensitivity and high discriminability.

Non-ionized, High-resolution Measurement of Internal and Marginal Discrepancies of Dental Prosthesis Using Optical Coherence Tomography
摘要: An internal and marginal fit between prosthesis and abutment are important factors of the durability of dental prosthesis. In this study we have proposed the use of swept-source optical coherence tomography (SS-OCT) as a novel application for non-ionized and high-resolution measurements of internal and marginal discrepancies at anatomically critical four points, such as occlusal, angle, axial, and margin during prosthesis attachment. A tooth model was fabricated by 3D printing technique and the dental prosthesis was designed using dental CAD software. The cross-sectional images along with intensity peak profile analysis of the sample were acquired using OCT system for measurements of fit. The demonstrated qualitative and quantitative evaluations can be well-utilized for assessment of the internal and marginal fit of dental prosthesis.

Investigation of Remote Sensing Image Fusion Strategy Applying PCA to Wavelet Packet Analysis Based on IHS Transform
摘要: Further exploration of wavelet packet analysis (WPA) in the area of image fusion has been a hot topic. It is a strategy to combine WPA with such other transforms as intensity–hue–saturation (IHS), principle component analysis (PCA) for image fusion between the panchromatic (PAN) and the multispectral (MS) image. The paper puts forward a distinct fusion method. Its main idea can be stated as three steps. Firstly, intensity component is derived from IHS model of the image after an MS image is transformed from RGB to IHS. Secondly, intensity component and a matched PAN image are decomposed by WPA at the second scale, respectively. The innovational concept with two aspects is applying PCA theory to merge wavelet packet coefficients. One is to detect edge and produce self-adaptive weighted ratios for low-frequency band. The other is to yield another weighted coefficients for high-frequency bands based on standard deviation. Lastly, the new intensity component created by implementing inverse WPA, matching with hue and saturation reserved, makes up a color composition. A fused image is produced when carrying out transformation from IHS to RGB for the composition. It turns out that the presented fusion strategy is effective with experiments.

A novel dynamical approach in continuous cuffless blood pressure estimation based on ECG and PPG signals
摘要: Continuous cu?ess blood pressure (BP) monitoring has attracted much interest in ?nding the ideal treatment of diseases and the prevention of premature death. This paper presents a novel dynamical method, based on pulse transit time (PTT) and photoplethysmogram intensity ratio (PIR), for the continuous cu?ess BP estimation. By taking the advantages of both the modeling and the prediction approaches, the proposed framework e?ectively estimates diastolic BP (DBP), mean BP (BP), and systolic BP (SBP). Adding past states of the cardiopulmonary system as well as present states of the cardiac system to our model caused two main improvements. First, high accuracy of the method in the beat to beat BP estimation. Second, notwithstanding noticeable BP changes, the performance of the model is preserved over time. The experimental setup includes comparative studies on a large, standard dataset. Moreover, the proposed method outperformed the most recent and cited algorithms with improved accuracy.

Intensity modulation-based spectral polarization measurement method of coded aperture
摘要: This paper presents a spectral polarization measurement method for single-frame imaging. The method is based on intensity-modulated, coded aperture measurement, comprising a spectral polarization intensity modulation and a compressive sensing spectral imaging system. The incident light is modulated by two multistage phase retarders and a polarizer, and the spectrum's Stokes parameters are shifted to different frequency channels. The spectrum of the modulated light is obtained by a spectral imaging system composed of a coded aperture and a dispersive prism. The modulated spectral information is reconstructed using the TwIST algorithm, and the Stokes elements can be demodulated from it. Taking a pixel as an example, numerical simulations of the modulation of incident light intensity modulation, spectral reconstruction, and demodulation of Stokes parameters show that the method can acquire spectral polarization information of sparse images. This process needs only one measurement of the object and is therefore capable of high-speed acquisition.

Combined effects of unsteady wake and free-stream turbulence on turbine blade film cooling with laid-back fan-shaped holes using PSP technique
摘要: Detailed film cooling effectiveness distribution for a gas turbine blade under the effects of unsteady wakes and oncoming free-stream turbulence intensities was obtained using pressure sensitive paint (PSP) technique. Tests were performed on a linear cascade at Reynolds number of 3.85 × 10^5 based on the blade chord at cascade exit. Upstream unsteady wakes were simulated using a spoke-wheel type wake generator. The test blade has three rows of compound angled cylindrical film holes at the leading edge, five rows of laid-back fan-shaped holes on the pressure surface and three rows of laid-back fan-shaped holes on the suction surface. The wake Strouhal number was varied from 0 to 0.36 and three mass flux ratios were determined. The oncoming free-stream turbulence intensities are 2.7% and 26.9%, respectively. Results show that the effect of the mass flux ratio on the film cooling effectiveness decreases under the high turbulence intensity and unsteady wake conditions. In most regions of the blade surface, the film cooling effectiveness decreases with the increase of wake Strouhal number, and the free-stream turbulence superimposed on the unsteady wake reduces the film cooling effectiveness further. The effect of the unsteady wake decreases under the high free-stream turbulence conditions.

Design and development of a novel level transmitter utilizing lithium niobate (LiNbO3) Mach-Zehnder modulator for hazardous regions
摘要: In the proposed work, a very low-cost transducer and a novel photonic based transmission technique have developed for liquid level measurement. Two copper parallel plates are used to measure the liquid level in the sensing tube. For transmission of the measured quantity to the remote location, electrical (1–5 V DC), as well as optical technique, has been used. A lithium niobate (LiNbO3) based Mach Zehnder interferometer has been used for the optical transmission. In the proposed method 40GHz, Photline made MXAN-LN-40 light intensity Mach-Zehnder modulator was used. The optical output was analyzed with the help of optical spectrum analyzer (MS9710B) as well as optical meter. Optical transmission was not affected by EMI interference and very advantageous in the inflammable regions. With the help of the proposed method, the sensitivity of 7.02 pF/cm. from the sensor and ?0.236 dBm/cm. from the modulator were achieved. The output of the sensor, signal conditioning, and optically transmitted data has been analyzed experimentally.
