Calibration Method of Laser Detection System With Position Sensitive Detector
摘要: The measurement accuracy of the LDS with the PSD is crucial in all the military applications, and hence it is of great benefit to calibrate the LDS with the PSD before use. This work mainly provides two contributions: first, the measurement model of the LDS with installation errors is deduced. Second, a calibration method of the LDS with installation errors is designed with only one independent three-axis turntable. Then, a semiphysical simulation test is launched. Comparing laser angles (cid:2)u and (cid:2)c, which are obtained from the data before and after calibration, we find that the calibration result is close to the reference. The proposed method is promising and, we believe, practical.

Investigation of laser active reconnaissance system performance based on its parameters
摘要: Laser active reconnaissance technology is one of the important technologies in the field of optoelectronic countermeasures. However, the Laser active reconnaissance effect is affected by various kinds of factors. According to the process of laser active reconnaissance, the laser active reconnaissance model is established. Furthermore, the echo power and the relationship between the power and various factors are simulated and analyzed. The results show that the echo power is subject to laser divergence angle, atmospheric visibility, angle of incidence and other factors. Among them, the divergence angle has the greatest influence on echo power, followed by the laser incident angle. The slight increase of laser divergence angle and laser incident angle will cause the echo power to drop sharply. However, the slight increase of receiving aperture of cat eye optical window will lead to the echo power increase rapidly. Therefore, in order to obtain the maximum laser echo power in specific application environment, it is necessary to select appropriate parameters for laser active reconnaissance system.

Photodetectors [Working Title] || Avalanche Photodiode Focal Plane Arrays and Their Application to Laser Detection and Ranging
摘要: Focal-plane avalanche photodiodes (APDs) are being more and more widely and deeply studied to satisfy the requirement in weak light and single photon imaging. The progresses of this worldwide study, especially the distinctive researches and achievements in Southwest Institute of Technical Physics and University of Electronic Science and Technology of China are reviewed in this chapter. We successfully fabricated up to 64 × 1 linear-mode Si APD arrays, and 32 × 32–64 × 64 Si single-photon avalanche detector (SPAD) arrays, and applied them in Laser Detection and Ranging (LADAR) platforms like driverless vehicles. Also, we developed 32 × 32–64 × 64 InGaAsP/InP SPAD arrays, and constructed three-dimensional imaging LADAR using them. Together with the progresses of other groups and other materials, we see a prospective future for the development and application of focal-plane APDs.

Feasibility analysis of laser detection and positioning for unmanned aerial vehicles
摘要: In order to carry out effective anti-reconnaissance for unmanned aerial vehicles(UAV), the feasibility of effective monitoring of UAV by laser detection system has been analyzed. The models of laser transmitting and receiving system and the photoelectric imaging system on UAV are established. The characteristics of specular scattering and focal plane reflection of UAV imaging lens are simulated. Taking the UAV located at a height of 10,000 m as an example, the feasibility of the application of two detection systems under reflected light has been analyzed. The range of incident angle of the detection laser, the distribution characteristics of light intensity on the photosensitive surface of the detection system and the variation characteristics of return light of the detection laser during dynamic scanning have been obtained respectively. The results show that the focal plane reflected light intensity of the UAV imaging lens is much higher than that of the specular scattered light intensity, and has a good return characteristic. Within the field coverage of the UAV imaging system, the focus plane reflected light can be used to effectively detect and locate the UAV target.

Noise characteristics improvement of submicron InP/InGaAs avalanche photodiode for laser detection system
摘要: InP/InGaAs avalanche photodiodes have attracted much attention in optoelectronics and long distance optical communication systems due to their high bit rate and gain-bandwidth. In this paper, to improve the noise characteristics in laser detection systems, separate absorption, grading, charge, and multiplication InP/InGaAs avalanche photodiode (SAGCM APD) with double guard rings and three thin layers of InGaAsP has been simulated. In addition, the multiplication width of SAGCM APD has been optimized which enhances the noise characteristics. The Photocurrent and dark current are acquired as and resulting in superior electrical properties among the other works. The excess noise factor in the constant mean gain of has been reduced 10.3% in comparison with recent SAGCM APDs. The calculated results show that the reduction of dark current and the excess noise factor increase the SNR for about orders of magnitude.
